Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass, a scenic and cultural adventure which leads you to high and upper valley of Manaslu range of peaks and within traditional villages enriched with Tibetan Buddhism religion and culture.
Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass which was closed for visitors till 1990’s, and then since the door was opened to explore this beautiful and scenic country and age old cultural villages enclosed within high Manaslu range of mountains.
The areas of trekking leads you to Nepal Mid Western Himalaya which sandwiched between massive Ganesh Himal in the east and Annapurna Himalaya towards west, where you can enjoy the views of all these range of peaks on this fabulous trek around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass.
Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass trekking is slowly getting popular among trekkers and adventurer since the locals established many good lodges for the comfort of travelers visiting its wonderful country which is a mere distance to the border of Tibet.
Our adventure begins with a long and interesting overland drive to reach warm and lower valley of Gorkha district at Arughat town and villages, where walk follows Buri-Gandaki River upstream all the way near to its glacial source at Sama-Gaon and at Larke Phedi (base).
Walk continues through lovely and interesting villages of Philim-Jagat-Dyang-Lo Gaon to reach at Sama-Gaon where tree lines and lush green vegetation fades giving way to smaller and dwarf rhododendron and juniper bushes within this arid and barren terrain of mountains and high rocky cliffs.
On trek with great views of snow capped peaks of Manaslu range and exploring traditional well kept villages and farms interwoven with Buddhism religion with strong influence of Tibetan culture and traditional way of life of the local villagers of upper and high Manaslu valley.
With rest and acclimatization days at Sama-Gaon, soon our adventure leads at the base of Larke Pass at Phedi meaning bottom of a hill or a pass, and the climb up to the highest spot of the adventure on top Larke-La pass at above 5,135 m / 16,945 ft high with sweeping panorama of surrounding high peaks and beyond towards Manang areas.
A scenic downhill walk from the pass leads you back into lovely alpine woodland at Bhimthang around Manang areas where our trek leads to nice Dharapani and Chamje villages for the drive back to Kathmandu, on completing an overwhelming adventure of all life time on Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass Trekking.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Manaslu Trek.
Day 03: Drive to Soti Khola 730 m – 06 hrs
Day 04: Trek to Machha Khola 930m – 06 hrs
Day 05: Trek to Jagat 1,410m – 06 hrs
Day 06: Trek to Dyang 1,800 m – 06 hrs
Day 07: Trek to Ghap 2,160 m – 04 hrs
Day 08: Trek to Lo-Gaon 3,180 m – 06 hrs
Day 09: Trek to Sama-Gaon 3,530 m – 05 hrs
Day 10: Rest day at Sama-Gaon for acclimatization.
Day 11: Trek to Samdu 3,780m -05 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Larke phedi 4,450 m – 4 hrs.
Day 13: Traverse Larke pass at 5,135 m and descend to Bhimtang – 08 hours.
Day 14: Trek to Gho 2,560 m – 05 hrs
Day 15: Trek to Dharapani 1,860 m – 05 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Chamje 1,410 m – 06 hrs.
Day 17: Drive to Kathmandu – 07 hrs.
Day 18: In Kathmandu for independent activities.
Day 19: Transfer for International Departure.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.
Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass Trekking, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.
Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Larke Peak Climb.
A day in Kathmandu free for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, on this day join in for sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.
Day 03: Drive to Soti Khola 730 m – 05hrs
Morning overland journey on main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone around Dhading and Gorkha district, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.
Finally our exciting drive leads at Arughat town by the raging Burigandaki River within warm sub-tropical area, here taking a rough jeep track road following the river past many farm village and fields to reach our first overnight spot at Soti Khola.
Day 04: Trek to Machha Khola 930m – 06 hrs.
From Maccha Khola village, starting our first day walk following Burigandaki River upstream through many farm villages, crossing over Nuali khola with views of waterfalls and then cross a stream to Machha Khola for overnight stop. This village named as Machha Khola meaning Fish streams.
Day 05: Trek to Jagat 1,410m – 06 hrs.
After stop at Macha Khola morning follows Buri Gandaki River upstream, to reach Khorla Beshi a small farm village from here on winding path to reach at Tatopani village with “Hot Spring,” an opportunity for hot bathe on refreshing spring.
After a nice rest walk carries on passing villages of Dovan and Yaruphant to reach Jagat village, after crossing a short suspension bridge, Jagat a moderate size farm villages with shops and stores.
Day 06: Trek to Dyang 1,800 m – 06 hrs.
From Jagat, walk continues heading higher areas through many small farm villages and then a short climb with downhill crossing over suspension bridge to reach at Nagjet and Philim, a large village with scattered farm houses. After Philim walk through farm terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, then a climb on rocky ridge top into bamboo forest area to our overnight stop at Dyang village.
Day 07: Trek to Ghap 2,160 m – 04 hrs
Morning walk from Dyang leads to cooler area where you can feel rise in altitude, on entering Himalayan alpine region, continue walk downhill to a river side to reach at Bihi Bazaar a small village near a river side.
From here onwards encountering more villages of strong Tibetan culture, walk leads on gentle trail with few short ups and downs till Ghap village is reached for overnight stop.
Day 08: Trek to Lo Gaon 3,180 m – 06 hrs.
From Ghap village with nice good walk following Burigandaki River, then crossing this river through small farm villages and cultivated farm fields of barley, wheat and millets to reach at Numrung village with first close views of Mt. Manaslu North Face and adjoining peaks. Walk continues passing few villages of Banjham, Lhi and Sho, then as altitude gains with an hour up to Shrip village to Lo Gaon for overnight stop in a nice cozy lodge.
Day 09: Trek to Sama Gaon 3,530 m – 05 hrs
After Lo Gaon tree lines fades only for few short juniper bushes and some willow trees, walk leads on nice path with views of peaks and finally the day ends at Sama Gaon for overnight stop, this is a large mountain village located on route Manaslu base camp, Larkya-la pass and to Tibet border.
Day 10: Rest day in Sama Gaon for acclimatization.
Rest Day in Sama Gaon, which is an ideal place for necessary acclimatization before the climb and to reach high Manaslu base camp, at Sama Gaon explore this interesting village similar to Tibetan culture and traditional way of life.
Day 11: Trek to Samdu 3,780m -05 hrs.
After a pleasant day at Sama Gaon, trek climbs slowly towards Samdu and beyond,
actually walk to Samdu is not too far can be done within few hours but due to high altitude within dry air makes the walk slower.
Our route slowly leads at Samdu village which is the last village before Larkya-la base and pass, at Samdu overnight in this interesting village of strong Tibetan influence due to its closeness to the border of Tibet, where trade still exists.
Day 12: Trek to Larke Phedi a base camp for Larke Peak and pass at 4,450 m.
From Samdu walk leads to more barren areas, adventure begins crossing Gyala Khola, then ascending to the ridge where there is a ruins of a village known as Larke Bazaar.
Presumably this village once thrived on trade with Tibet over the nearby Gya La, a trade which at present has diminished.
Walk nears Larkya Glacier reaching at Duwang, where there is a lodge serving travelers crossing Larke- La, overnight camp is just on a clearing.
Day 13: Traverse Larke pass at 5,135m and descend to Bhimtang – 08 hours.
Walk from Larke Phedi to the top of Larke-la Pass at 5,135m starting with gradual winding uphill, to reach our highest point of the adventure.
Morning climb leads past the valley on north side of Larke Glacier with magnificent views of Cho Danda and then of Larke Peak. Finally, walk across moraines of the glacier, making a gradual ascent which becomes steeper in the last section to the top of the pass.
From the pass, outstanding views of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna II can be seen. After a wonderful moment on the highest spot, a long descend follows over snow and scree, to reach the valley trail to Larcia.
A further hour on a moraine ridge path leads to Tambuche at 3,900m and with short distance walk to overnight stop at Bhimtang, a lovely place on a broad and level valley with number of mani walls and lodge to stay.
Day 14: Trek to Gho 2,560 m – 05 hrs.
After a long day walk to Bhimtang previous day, today an easy trek from here onward to Dharapani past thick forested area of pines, rhododendron trees with view of snow peaks.
From Bhimtang descend to a valley of Burdin Khola which is the base of west side of Manaslu, from a ridge with excellent view of Manaslu towards south east with Annapurna II in the south west.
Our route leads over Dudh Khola, where descend follows a trail into a narrow valley within forest to reach our overnight stop amidst forest surrounding in perfect tranquility after 5 hours of good walk.
Day 15: Trek to Dharapani village 1,943m. 5-6 hours.
From here the track leads downhill into forest passing small summer settlement and then climb on a terraced fields to Karche La, and then down to Marsyangdi River.
After few hours walk reaching Tilje village on following Dudh (milky) river downstream, passing number of villages, including Thonje.
From Tilje an hour climb after crossing a bridge and then joining at main trail of Annapurna circuit joins in Dharapani village.
Dharapani a lovely large village will be a civilization after being in complete wilderness, where one can celebrate with a beer and buy hot shower from the lodge.
Day 16: Trek to Chamje 1,410 m – 06 hrs.
Our last day walk of this great adventure heads to southward, following on the main trail by Marsyangdi River downstream, on crossing second bridge walk leads downhill all the way to Tal Besi.
From Tal, an easy walk for a while then descend with great views of waterfalls, after few hours of good walk brings you at Chamje village after crossing a small bridge, the ending point of our great trek and climb of this wonderful journey and adventure.
Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu – 07 hrs.
Morning after breakfast a scenic drive to Kathmandu, the drive first passes through farm fields and villages the road then joins main Kathmandu-Pokhara highway at Dumre town. From here another three to four drive brings you back to Kathmandu.
Day 18: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
A free day in Kathmandu an opportunity for another sightseeing tour for few hours or just relax and use this day for own individual activities and shopping.
Day 19: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Manaslu Himal with great marvelous experience on Around Manaslu & Larke-La Pass trekking, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
