Introduction:

Chulu East Peak Climb leads you on top above 6,584m | 21,601ft, the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya as listed on NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association), truly a great classic adventure on famous and popular Annapurna Circuit trekking route.

The area which is world famous and popular regarded as Top Ten Adventure destination due to its magnificent location with tremendous views of high snow capped mountains and dramatic landscapes.

As the walk leads you from warm sub-tropical temperature to alpine cooler areas covered with lovely woodland of rhododendron-oaks-pines and fir tree lines and towards arctic cold zone at Chulu East Peak with high beautiful Manang valley.

Chulu East Peak Climb an adventure of great combination within Nepal Wild West Himalaya with scenic walks and exploring local colorful culture of immense interest around its traditional villages with Buddhist religion.

Our great adventure to Chulu East Peak Climb starts with exciting overland ride to reach at Lamjung areas past Besisar town and village within low warmer region, and then walk follows great Marsyangdi River upstream right up to its glacial source in Manang.

Walk leads past charming villages encountering religious monuments of prayer wheels and stone inscribed walls around Jagat-Dharapani-Chame and then at Pisang village.

As walk progress heading higher colder areas where tree lines drops for smaller alpine bush and shrubs on leaving the main Annapurna Circuit trail to reach our main target at Chulu East Peak base camp within complete wilderness in the harmony of pristine surrounding of high mountains.

Chulu East Climb the grade as PD + which means ‘Per Difficule’ from French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification, a straight forward climb where some technical skill and effort required on climb to its summit, and then a long climb on moraine-rocks and ice to reach on top Nepal’s highest trekking peaks.

The climb is well planned and undertaken, understanding the nature of the peaks with technical sections where much acclimatization and preparation required as per our standard itinerary days.

After a great effort reaching on top Chulu East Peak facing marvelous views and then heading safely back on the main Annapurna circuit trail to reach and climb over Thorang-La pass after walking past nice Manang village.

From the high Thorang-la pass descend leads at Kaligandaki River valley within Lower Mustang region to reach Jomsom with time at holy Muktinath Temple areas.

At Jomsom headquarter town of Mustang district, where our adventurous trekking concludes taking a short sweeping and scenic flight to beautiful Pokhara and with last overnight around Annapurna Himalaya by serene Phewa Lake.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Chulu East Peak Climb.
Day 03: Drive to Syange 1,140m via Besisar – 06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920m – 05 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 06 hours.
Day 06: Trek to Pisang village 3,300 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Julu 3,900m past Ngawal village 3657m – 06 hrs.
Day 08: At Julu village for acclimatization.
Day 09: Trek to Chulu East Peak base camp 3,910m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek and climb to Chulu East Peak high / advance camp 4,955m – 03 hrs.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trek and climb of Chulu East Peak, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

 

Day 02:                 In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Chulu East Peak Climb.

A free day in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, on this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will witness culture and historical sites, most of the monuments listed on World Heritage Sites.

Day 03:                 Drive to Syange 1,140m via Besisar – 06 hrs.
Morning overland journey on main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone around Lamjung and Manang districts, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920m – 05 hours.

From Syange first day walk begins with a climb leaving behind Marshyangdi River to reach at Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers.

 

After Jagat walk on winding path to Chamje to join back at Marshyangdi River crossing the river heading into forested area, with super views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges.

As the walk continues reaching Tal Besi, from here another few hours walk leads to overnight stop at Dharapani village.

 

Dharapani a nice village located on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

 

Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hours.

With pleasant overnight stop in Dharapani morning walk into rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagarchap and Danque, then at Timang village with more Buddhist cultured village including views of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft. From Timang village few hours trek leads to Koto close to Chame town.

 

After a refreshing stop at Koto where trail to Nar-Phu and towards Chame beyond joins, from here a short slow uphill walk brings you at Chame for the overnight stop, Chame a large major and headquarter town of Manang district.

 

Day 06: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m – 05 hrs.

From here onwards feel the cool and fresh mountain air, morning walk leads through enchanting alpine forests of rhododendron and pine tree lines following the Marshyangdi River upstream with several ups and downs to Bhratang village, after this small village walk follows uphill’s through the woodlands at Dukure Pokhari with couple of teahouses overlooking views of Chulu’s and Pisang peak and of Pisang village, after a break here descending to reach the lower Pisang village for overnight stop.

 

Day 07:                 Trek to Julu 3,900m past Ngawal village 3657m – 06 hrs.

With pleasant stop and overnight in Pisang village, from this Pisang onward for few days away from main Annapurna circuit route heading towards absolute wilderness, as walk heads into complete barren wilderness.

 

Looking around excellent views of Annapurna and Chulu peaks, as walk continues higher above Nagawa village, leading towards North West into more arid and dry terrain to reach at Jhulu small village for first camping of the adventure.

 

Day 08:                 At Julu village for acclimatization.

A necessary rest day an important for acclimatization and preparation for the adventurous climb to the summit of Chulu East peak, here marvel the grand views and take a short hike around this remote Julu village located high with grand scenery of mountains and of Chulu’s peaks.

 

Day 09:                 Trek to Chulu Base Camp at 5,300m -04 hrs.

After pleasant rest at Julu, morning walk leads higher up towards remote within complete wilderness with views of Chulu’s and northern Annapurna range of mountains.

 

Climb leads above scenic Manang valley towards Chulu East close to Chulu Far East Peaks, after a tough climb reaching a rocky moraine area on top of a ridge to set our base camp for the climb.

 

This will be a perfect and ideal spot for base camp beneath towering Chulu East Peak with amazing views of surrounding mountains and dramatic landscapes.

 

Day 10:           Trek and climb to Chulu East Peak high / advance camp 4,955m – 03 hrs.
A short day but tough due to high altitude, as our morning walk follows a faint and vague path where few climbers and Yak herders hardly use this route to set a high camp.

Walk leads over rocks, ice and glacier to reach at the very bottom of Chulu East Peak where high camp is set for the climb, this will make more approachable towards its summit top for next morning climb.

Afternoon our guide will scout the area for safe approachable and accessible route to its summit by fixing ropes and making ice ledges where necessary.

High Camp situated on a rocky and ice spot right beneath Chulu East Peak, under some conditions this area may be under snow, afternoon free to sort the gear and full preparation for exciting climb.

Day 11: Climb of Chulu East Peak and descend to Base Camp.
Our main highlight of the adventure starting early before dawn to reach over a snowy slopes to a rocky and icy ridge, where a steep climb leads you with some technical sections on few areas of the climb to reach at the summit of Chulu East Peak; our expert guide will support you with necessary skill and technique required to reach at the summit top.

After a final ascent reaching on top of Chulu East Peak above 6,584m | 21,601ft high, facing incredible views and panorama of surrounding peaks of Annapurna-Damodar Himal with all of Chulu range of peaks.

 

Marvel the extraordinary scenery and descend back to base camp safely and feeling in high spirit and quite tired.

 

Day 12: Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.
We reserve an extra day as contingency in case of unfavorable weather condition, or to adjust this day to maintain itinerary days taking care of client’s health and fitness as well.

If all goes well according to our standard itinerary our guide / leader will use this extra day on return trek to Manang or on route to Jomsom, making shorter days with enjoyable walks on route.

Day 13: Trek on route Manang village – 05 hrs.
After a great successful as the weather permits, morning walk leads you back to Jhulu village and heading towards Manang main village, on route either stop at Humdre or at Braga villages before reaching at Manang village after a great scenic walk of the day.

Day 14:                 Trek to Manang 3,540 m – 05 hrs.

Morning views of mountains, from here walk leads downhill facing Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak.

Walk towards a flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward easy pleasant treks back at popular Annapurna Circuit route and then reach at main Manang village for overnight stop in the comfort of nice and cozy lodges.

 

Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village.

 

Day 15: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,210m – 04 hrs.

After a nice stop in Manang village, walk leads to Ghunsang village and then at Yak Kharka, an interesting morning walk with grand views of snowcapped mountains, on crossing a small stream reaching Yak Kharka for overnight stop, this is a small and remote settlement of Manang villagers where in early days used to be a Yak grazing land.

 

Yak Kharka houses 4-5 good lodges to stay with super views of Mt. Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Tilicho and Chulu’s Peaks.

 

Day 16: Trek to Thorang- La High Camp or Phedi 4,450 m – 04 hrs.

Morning walk heading towards at the base of Thorang-la pass, on crossing a bridge with a climb along Jarjung River, final day walk leads at Thorang Phedi with 3-4 lodges and then with short rest an hour steep climb reaches you at Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

 

Day 17: Cross Thorang La 5,416m | 17,769 ft and trek to Muktinath 3,800 m- 06 hrs.
One of the highlight of the adventure beside Chulu East Peak climb, after an early breakfast walk leads to a long climb to reach on top Thorang-la on winding steep path.

Thorang-La Pass above 5,416 m and 17,700 ft the top festooned with thousands of Buddhist colorful prayer flags, with a sign board of Thorang-La and its specific heights.

 

From here facing grand view of snowcapped peaks, a long descends takes you at holy Muktinath around Lower Mustang area.

 

On reaching Muktinath for overnight stop, one of the holiest of all holy spot for Hindu religion and as well for some Buddhist, the word Muktinath literally means ‘place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

 

Day 18: Trek to Jomsom 2, 715 m – 04 hours.

From Muktinath, rest of the walks is easier with big drop of 1,200m as the trail descend to Kaligandaki river valley to reach at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River, an interesting country around Kaligandaki River valley within dry and arid country with incredible views of windblown hills and canyons.

A pleasant walk of few hours brings you at large town in Jomsom the capital of Thakali people interwoven with Tibetan Buddhism practice.  At Jomsom for overnight stop within Mustang district a town with nice paved streets and many well kept lodges.

Kaligandaki area famous for delicious apples and its products, here celebrate with local apple products cider, brandy and juices.

Day 19:           Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.
Morning walk to Jomsom airport for short scenic flight to reach at picturesque Pokhara valley, during air amazing views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan peaks, as the plane land at scenic Pokhara.

A popular and main touristic destinations of Nepal, overlooking massive Annapurna Mountains with serene Phewa Lake where our hotels located, afternoon free for individual activities and souvenir shopping or just relax and enjoy the views.

Day 20: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Morning catching last views of Annapurna Himalaya with majestic Machhapuchare Himal or Fish Tail, and then an exciting overland journey to reach back into the hustle bustle city life of Kathmandu after a great experience and overwhelming time on Chulu East Peak Climb.

Day 21:                 In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as spare and free day in case of delay on climb due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

Day 22: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Annapurna with successful climb on top Chulu East Peak, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
