Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp & French Pass Trekking, where walk and climb leads you to Nepal Far North West Himalaya within its North West base camp of towering world 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri at 8,167 m and 26,795 ft high.

Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp & French Pass Trekking, an awesome walking adventure which delights you with complete views of whole Dhaulagiri massive range of peaks with Annapurna mountain range during this scenic and adventurous trek to Dhaulagiri base camp.

Mt. Dhaulagiri with its bulk range of numerous satellite peaks makes this mountains one of the greatest range in Himalaya extending towards Mustang-Kaligandaki to Dolpo areas, the mountains which is clearly seen from Pokhara as well.

Adventure to Dhaulagiri areas leads you to remote and isolated places beyond human settlement and villages in complete wilderness in the harmony of pristine natural surroundings of high peaks of Dhaulagiri range.

Starting this fabulous journey with a drive to scenic Pokhara and then heading due west past Baglung and Beni town of Mygdi district, then following the raging Mygdi River upstream right up to its glacial source at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Walking through remote rural farm villages of Magar people and then on high hills on leaving the warm sub-tropical areas for cooler alpine temperatures within enchanting forest of tall rhododendron-magnolia-hemlocks-pines-oaks and fir tree lines.

Soon vegetation gives away for remorseless fields of ice and glaciers and walking over moraine to reach our destination at Dhaulagiri Base Camp with grand views of its tumbling Ice Falls and glaciers, after a great moment on complete isolation away from flow of trekkers.

From Dhaulagiri Base Camp our adventure continues crossing over high French Pass at 5,360 m with sweeping panorama of Dhaulagiri range of peaks with Tukuche Himal, then entering a scenic Hidden Valley.

Slowly our adventure comes to an end on leaving Hidden Valley to cross another high pass of Dhampus or Thapa to reach at Mustang areas of Kaligandaki zone around popular Annapurna Circuit Trail within ancient Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route of Nepal / Tibet.

On reaching Marpha one of the most charming village of Nepal Himalaya famous for delicious apples and its products and then heading to Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district for scenic short flight to picturesque Pokhara concluding our spectacular and mesmerizing adventure on Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp & French Pass Trekking.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:                 Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:                 In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Dhaulagiri Trek.
Day 03:                 Drive or fly to Pokhara 860m (30 mins flight and 6 hrs drive)
Day 04:                 Drive to Darbang 1,200 m via Beni 900 m -06 hrs.
Day 05:                 Trek to Riverside1, 700 m – 04 hrs.
Day 06:                 Trek to Bagar 2,375m -05 hrs.
Day 07:                 Trek to Dovan 2,600m-06 hours.
Day 08:                 Trek to Chartare / Bhaisi Kharka 3,000m -05 hrs.
Day 09:                 Trek to Pakhaban (Japanese Camp.) 3,750m -05 hrs.
Day 10:                 Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4,750m – 06 hrs.
Day 11:                 At base camp free day for acclimatization and rest.
Day 12:                 Trek to Hidden Valley 4,900m via French Pass 5,360m.
Day 13:                 Trek to Yak Kharka 4,915m – 05 hrs.

Day 15:                 Fly to Pokhara – 06 hrs (22 mins flights) and transfer to Hotel.
Day 16:                 Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 17:                 In Kathmandu free day with individual activities.
Day 18:                 International departure for home ward bound.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other trekking members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp & French Pass Trekking, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02:                 In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Dhaulagiri trekking.

A day in Kathmandu for preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, on this day join in our sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950m – 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning overland journey on the main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone at Pokhara, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.

Finally this exciting drive reaching at Pokhara, then transfer to respective hotels by the beautiful and serene Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.
(Options by Air 30 minutes scenic flight to Pokhara).

Day 04:                 Drive to Darbang via Beni 900 m – 04 hrs.
After a wonderful stop in scenic Pokhara, morning drive continues for next few hours to reach Beni town to begin this awesome adventure beyond Dhaulagiri base camp with Hidden valley.

Beni a large town and headquarter of Dhaulagiri and Mygdi district from here few hours’ drive brings at Darbang to starting point of our adventurous trek, overnight in best available local lodge and hotels.

Day 05:                Trek to Riverside 1,560 m – 04 hrs.
Starting first day walk of this adventure with a climb towards a small ridge passing several farm area and villages and then the walk is gradual walking along the bank of river Mygdi, after a pleasant day walk reaching to camp by the bank of the river for overnight stop, after noon at leisure for a cool splash in the river and short walk around this least visited area.

Day 06:                 Trek to Bagar 2,375m – 06 hrs.
Morning walk follows river for a while reaching a small rural farm village of Jugepani, for lunch time permitting after 3 hours of nice walks, after a break here a steep climb to a ridge for an hour reaching a ridge and then downhill through forest to Bagar, a small farm village overnight camp by the school yard, this will be the last village or human settlement for a week till it joins at popular Annapurna circuit route at Kaligandaki near Marpha.

Day 07:                 Trek to Dovan 2,600m – 06 hours.
Morning leaving farm fields of Bagar village, walk into cool forest for an hour and then a steep climb towards forested ridge of bamboo, oaks and rhododendron trees, looking down at Mygdi River, after ending the climb downhill into dense forest of pines and rhododendron to reach at Dovan for overnight camp by river, Dovan a small temporary place with small teahouse in the midst of a forest surrounding.

Day 08:                 Trek to Chartare / Bhainsi Kharka 3,000m -05 hrs.
From Dovan morning walk leads to cross an unstable wooden bridge over a river confluence of Mygdi River, after crossing back into woodlands for whole day, walking on winding forest path till Chartare also known as Bhaise Kharka, as this area a grazing place for animals.

Day 09:                 Trek to Pakhaban 3,750 m – 05 hrs.
After a pleasant stop in the middle of forest, morning walk leads closer towards Mt. Dhaulagiri South Face flank, with views of Putha Huinchuli, Manapathi and of Dhaulgiri south flank, after 3 hours walk reaching a glaciated area named as Italian camp, from here leaving the forested and tree lines behind for few days, and then t adventure begins walking on glacier and moraine ,rocky ridge to reach a small grassy spot known as Pakhaban and as well called as Japanese camp, as Japanese expeditions to Dhaulagiri camped on this spot.

This camping offers grand view of Dhaulagiri South West face with rear huge wall face of Tsaurabong Peak.

Day 10:                 Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4,750 m – 06 hrs.
From the camp heading between huge bulk of mountains and deep gorge down below where glacier feds source of Mygdi River, walk continues following moraine and iceberg in few places, climb towards base camp requires a team work to find the right good path on this glaciated sections, after a strenuous walk off the glacier area to reach a rocky place and then at Dhaulagiri base camp for overnight, one of the highlight of this adventure.

Camping is pitched on rocky area in the shade of Mt. Dhaulagiri I (8,167 m) and its glacier including Tukuche peak with west peaks of Dhaulagiri II (7,751 m.), Dhaulagiri III (7,715 m.) and Dhaulagiri IV (7,618 m.).

Day 11:                 At base camp free day for acclimatization and rest.
A full rest day for acclimatization and short hike around in this magnificent surrounding within amphitheatre of snow-peaks that extends towards Tukuche peaks, a massive world 7th highest mountain at the height of 8,167 m high with rocks and ice, here with time to relax and marvel the views and saving your energy for next day climb over high French Pass to Hidden Valley.

Day 12:                 Trek to Hidden Valley 4,900m via French Pass 5,360m.
Morning walk leads to highest spot of the trek over French pass at above 5,360 m high, walking on dry glacier and moraines near around the base of Tukuche peak.

Our journey leads high to reach on top of French Pass, festooned with Buddhist prayer flags, after enjoying the surrounding views a short downhill walk of few hours to a wide grassy area at hidden valley for overnight camping.

Hidden Valley camp offers magnificent views of Sita Chuchura, Mukut Himal, and Tashi Kang 5,386 meters, Tukche Peak and Dhaulagiri I.

Day 13:                 Trek to Yak Kharka 4,915m via Thapa pass 5,250 m – 05 hrs.
After a wonderful stop at Hidden Valley morning on gradual path for few hours to reach the last pass of this marvelous adventure over Thapa or Dhampus pass at above 5,250 m high, from the top views of Annapurna Himal with Nilgiris peaks.

Enjoying the scenery downhill walk to Yak Kharka for overnight camp and back at green vegetation of Juniper, Burberry and rhododendron bushes with views of snow capped peaks.

Day 14: Trek to Marpha 2,670 m and drive to Jomsom 2,715 m – 05 hrs.
From this quiet and peaceful camp with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range of peaks heading back to alpine woodland with big drop of 1,200 m downhill to reach Kaligandaki river valley, where our pleasant day walk ends at Marpha village around Mustang area within Kaligandaki River valley.

After a long descend reaching at Marpha, one of the most charming villages with white painted houses and neat paved streets, well kept lodges.

From Marpha with rest and then drive for a short distance to Jomsom, the headquarter town of Mustang district, at Jomsom celebrate last night dinner with local apple products cider, brandy and juice this area from Jomsom, Marpha to Larjung is famous for delicious apples.

Day 15:           Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.
Morning walk to Jomsom airport for short scenic flight to reach at picturesque Pokhara valley, during air amazing views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan peaks, as the plane land at scenic Pokhara.

A popular and main touristic destinations of Nepal, overlooking massive Annapurna Mountains with serene Phewa Lake where our hotels located, afternoon free for individual activities and souvenir shopping or just relax and enjoy the views.

Day 16: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Morning catching last views of Annapurna Himalaya with majestic Machhapuchare Himal or Fish Tail, and then an exciting overland journey to reach back into the hustle bustle city life of Kathmandu after a great experience and overwhelming time on Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trekking.

Day 17:                 In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as spare and free day in case of flight delay in Jomsom due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

Day 18: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri with an adventure of lifetime experience on Dhaulagiri Base Camp & French Pass Trekking, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
