Introduction:

Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli Climb one of the most exciting adventure within massive range of Annapurna great Himalaya, where trek leads you within picturesque Annapurna sanctuary and then beyond into hidden areas of Annapurna massive for the climb on top Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli at above 6,501m and 21,453 ft high.

Fluted Peak also known by local names as Singu Chuli Himal, an attractive mountain where part of its ridge line joins south with Glacier Dome, near by the lodge at Machhapuchare Base Camp little section of the peak can be seen, cradling the West Annapurna Glacier.

Fluted Peak /Singu Chuli can be seen from moraines above Annapurna Base camp which is located near Annapurna Sanctuary.

Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli climbing route follows a shelf above west bank of Annapurna Glacier, skirting around the base of the mountain’s with rocky east ridge to reach base of North-East Face, which is unseen, even from the moraines above the Machhapuchare Base Camp.

The best distant view of Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli is from Annapurna South base, from the moraines above the lodges at Annapurna Base Camp the Fluted South Face presents a ‘beautiful shape, buttressed by the pencil shadowy ridges of snow and ice’ rising above the ridge connecting it with Tent Peak /Tharpu Chuli.

The peak was first received attention in 1956 by Jimmy Roberts when he explored the area during a reconnaissance for the 1957 British Machhapuchare Expedition.

Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli situated within massive Annapurna Himalayan range of Gandaki Zone its location at 28 36 18 Latitude & 83 57 00 Longitude.

An attractive peak, which acts as a central divider between semi-circles of peaks enclosing the Sanctuary, the peak sometimes confused with Rakhsi Peak, a small summit and viewpoint above the normal high camp. From the summit offers outstanding view of all peaks within Annapurna range and its Sanctuary.

Starting from scenic Pokhara following Modi River upstream right up to its glacial source at Annapurna Sanctuary where walk leads from low warm areas of paddy fields towards cool alpine forested areas exploring Gurung farm villages of immense old culture with Buddhism.

After walking into Modi River gorge within thick woodland and vegetation reaching an exposed wide areas into a plateau at Annapurna Sanctuary with amphitheatre of peaks with Annapurna I ahead, as walk leads at Annapurna base camp past Machhapuchare base camp.

Enjoying rest days with awesome panorama of mountains then heading to our main adventure through Machhapuchare base camp leaving Annapurna sanctuary to reach our base camp for the climb of Fluted peak / Singu Chuli.

At base camp with rest and preparation heading for the tough climb on top of Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli with great support of Sherpa Climbing expert guides, on reaching the top rewarded with grand panorama of mountains.

Feeling on top spirit after a great and exciting climb on Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli descend back to base camp for onward journey back to Pokhara taking the same route for few days and then on alternative route via Jhinu village enjoying its fresh natural hot spring and then on the road to beautiful Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul (trek point) and trek to Ghandruk 1,940m -04 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Chomrong village at 2,170m – 06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Dovan 2,600 m via Bamboo 2,310 – 06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,700 via Deurali 3,200 m – 05 hrs.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

 

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trekking and Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli Climb, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

 

Day 02:                 In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Fluted Peak Climb.

We have allowed and reserved a day in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, to collect permits from concern Government department for the expeditions.

 

On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

 

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950m – 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning overland journey on the main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone at Pokhara, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.

Finally this exciting drive reaching at Pokhara, then transfer to respective hotels by the beautiful and serene Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.
(Options by Air 30 minutes scenic flight to Pokhara).

 

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul (trekking point) and trek to Ghandruk 1,940 m – 04 hrs.
Starting our adventure to Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli Climb taking few hours drives to Nayapul and at Bhirethati villages, situated above Modi River.

 

Our first day walk starts past several farm villages with views of waterfalls then with gradual climb for few hours to reach at Ghandruk for overnight stop in the comfort of nice lodge, after a an interesting wonderful walks of four hours.

 

Ghandruk a large Gurung village and the gateway to many trekking and other adventure around Annapurna Himalaya, Gurung people are mainly framers and cattle herders with 200 years of history in supplying best Gorkha soldiers to foreign legion in UK – India and Singapore.

Afternoon as time permits visit Gurung museum with wide information of Gurung culture and heritage of Buddhist religion offers views of Annapurna Himalaya.

 

Day 05: Trek to Chomrong village at 2,170m – 06 hrs.
After a pleasant morning with views of Annapurna South-Huinchuli and Fish Tail peaks our second day walk leads above Ghandruk village and then with steep climb to Kimrong danda (ridge), here with short stop then on downhill trail into cool alpine forest to reach at lovely Kimrong valley. With lunch break afternoon uphill climb towards Chomrong village through terraced farm areas, an hour uphill reaching then on gentle stone paved path.

Reaching one of the largest Gurung villages in Chomrong, which is the last village before Annapurna base camp and the sanctuary, beyond Chomrong are just temporary settlement to cater the need of trekkers with lodge and guest houses.

 

Day 06: Trek to Dovan 2,600 m via Bamboo 2,310 – 06 hrs.
Morning walk downhill to cross a short bridge heading up to reach at Sinuwa at 2,360 m high, a lonely spot with few shops and nice lodges walk from here leads into cool forested area of oaks-rhododendron and pines trees and then a short steep descend to Bamboo a small settlement with 5-6 lodges surrounded by bamboo trees, on Modi River gorge.

After Bamboo an hour or more of slow climb brings at Dovan for overnight stop located within Modi River Gorge with couple of lodge for overnight stay.

Day 07: Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,700 via Deurali 3,200 m – 05 hrs.
After a nice overnight stop at Dovan with the sound of raging Modi River, morning walk leads higher through thick forested area reaching at Himalaya Hotel located beneath Huinchuli peak and large overhanging Hinko Cave. From downhill by the Modi River crossing ablation of old avalanches of rocky moraine, then a short climb brings at Deurali after leaving the gorge area to more wide open area. From Deurali after lunch stop heading higher leaving the tree lines behind following the raging glacial Modi River all the way to Machhapuchare base camp at 3,700 m high for overnight stop, located beneath towering North Face of the Fish Tail Mountain.

 

Day 08:                 Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m – 03 hrs with free afternoon.
Walk this morning leads into famous scenic Annapurna Sanctuary where Annapurna Base Camp located.  From Machhapuchare Base Camp starting point of the sanctuary, walk leads towards higher ground for few hours to enter into a magical sanctuary within amphitheatre of peaks that surrounds this amazing place.

 

After few hours of pleasant walk brings you to the highest spot of this adventure at Annapurna base camp with 4,130 meters elevation.

 

The one and only base camp around Himalaya with facilities of nice and cozy lodge and inns to stay with scenic panorama of whole Annapurna range of peaks.

Afternoon enjoy with views of  Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23,693ft), Gangapurna (7,455m-24,457ft) and Annapurna III (7,555m-24,787ft), including to Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish-tail) at 6,790 m stretches up towards Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli and Fluted Peaks or Singu Chuli.

 

Day 09: Trek to MBC and continue walk to Fluted Peak -Singu Chuli Base Camp 4,200 m -06 hrs.

On reach Machhapuchare Base Camp with brief rest continue walk leaving the main trail behind into remote and complete wilderness towards Fluted Peak or Singu Chuli base camp.

 

Walk leads across rubble-strewn snout of Annapurna South glacier and then following raging Modi Khola (river) on right bank till it joins with a tributary stream flowing from West Annapurna Glacier, walk follows North-West route over moraines and grassy fields reaching a cave which is a overhang huge rock / boulder to establish our first overnight camping as Base Camp for the climb.

 

Day 10: Rest day preparation for the climb.

At base camp rest day for acclimatization and preparation for the climb, the area located behind Tent Peak and towering Machhapuchare Himal within complete wilderness of tranquil surrounding in the harmony of giant peaks.

 

On this day rest and preparation for next day high camp and climb towards top of Singu Chuli or Fluted Peak, with time to explore around the hidden areas beyond Annapurna Sanctuary on the least visited region by other trekkers and adventurer.

 

Day 11: Trek to Singu Chuli High Camp at 4,900 m -03 hrs.

Walk from Base Camp and beyond to reach at overhanging boulder which is a small cave, and then heading towards a hill-side above glacier which flattens forming a grassy shelf, from here climb continues along this shelf to a point where Fluted Peak or Singu Chuli forms a long and low rock ridge.

 

As walk and climb leads South-East towards West Annapurna Glacier to set our High or Advance Camp on the ridge.

 

Day 12: Climb of North East Face of Fluted Peak/ Singu-Chuli.

A Big Day! Start the climb and traverse round the skyline ridge, to reach a small plateau beneath North East Face, from here climb leads to a vertical wall of 122 m, climbing to skirt a serac barrier leading to a steep step to a shelf which can be climbed easily beneath the gently fluted top section of the face and the upper portion of East Ridge.

 

As the climb follows without much difficulty to its summit top, a striking scenery awaits you of all the giant snow capped within Annapurna Sanctuary and of towering  Machhapuchare Himal with its Fish Tail peaks which is a mere close distance from the summit.

 

After a marvelous ascent on top Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli above 6,501m high /21,453 ft rewarded with picturesque panorama of mountains and unique landscapes, descend safely back to Base Camp.

 

Day 13: Spare Day for the climb in case of bad weather and delay on climb.

We have reserved a spare day in case of technical problem or unfavorable bad weather, if all goes well this spare day can be used on route walk to Pokhara.

 

Day 14: Trek back to Machhapuchare Base Camp – 05 hrs.
After a wonderful time beyond Annapurna sanctuary and in complete wilderness with successful ascent of Fluted Peak / Singu Chuli, retrace the journey back to Machhapuchare base camp for last overnight stop within Annapurna Sanctuary in the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge.

 

Day 15: Trek back to Bamboo 2,310 m – 06 hrs.
After a wonderful time, morning walk takes you back to Bamboo via Himalaya Hotel near Hinko Cave as the walk leads past Machhapuchare Base Camp, a nice pleasant walk and back into lush green vegetation; the walk is more or less downhill with few ups to reach at Bamboo for overnight halt.

 

Day 16: Trek to Jhinu Danda (hot-spring) 1,780 m – 05 hrs.
From Bamboo on leaving Modi River gorge climb leads up to Khuldi-Ghar into forested area, and then a short gradual walk to Sinuwa danda, from here descend to Chomrong River, and then climb on steps to Chomrong for lunch stop.

 

After Chomrong a short climb to the top ridge and then changing our direction from here with an alternative route to reach Pokhara, a short downhill walk brings at scenic and lovely Jhinu village for overnight stop, located on a ridge top with views of surrounding landscapes and rolling green hills. A short descend of 25 minutes reaches you at hot-spring by the Modi River.

 

Day 17: Trek to Bhirethati and drive to Pokhara – 07 hrs.
After a refreshing and pleasant time at Jhinu village morning with last day walks of the marvelous adventure on Fluted Peak/ Singu Chuli Climb, an easy descend to follow the raging Modi River towards warmer areas past smaller farm villages.

 

Walk continue reaching at the bottom of Ghandruk and Landruk village, where the trail leads you back into farm areas with more villages reaching at Bhirethati or in Nayapul for few hour drive back to scenic Pokhara for last overnight stop in Mid West Nepal Himalaya.

 

Day 18: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Morning catching last views of Annapurna Himalaya with majestic Machhapuchare Himal or Fish Tail, and then an exciting overland journey to reach back into the hustle bustle city life of Kathmandu after a great experience and overwhelming time around Annapurna Sanctuary.

Day 19: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as spare and free day in case of delay on climb due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

 

Day 20: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Annapurna with successful climb on top Fluted Peak or Singu Chuli one of the toughest peaks within Nepal Himalaya, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
