Larke Peak Climb an awesome adventure to conquer its summit at 6,249 m and 20,621 ft high, located within massive Manaslu Himalaya and close to Larke-la pass, a peak of great distinction and least climbed summated by other climbers.

Larke Peak listed in the category of Trekking Peaks of Nepal with climbing grade as AD + which means ‘Assez Difficule’ taken from widely used and popular French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification.

Tour to tackle with high technical section to encounter on climb with steep climbing or long snow/ice slopes above 50 degrees; which is highly suitable for experienced alpine climbers only.

Larke Peak Climb starts from Kathmandu taking an exciting overland journey to reach Nepal Mid West region around Gorkha district at Arughat town and Soti-Khola, where our adventurous walk begins following Buri-Gandaki River upstream to upper Manaslu valley.

Walk leads from low warm areas of rice fields to reach at cooler alpine areas past many nice villages of Machhakhola-Philim-Jagat-Dyang and Lo Gaon to reach at a large village of Sama-Gaon, here with acclimatization days and hike to explore the local villages full of rich old culture and traditions similar to Tibetan custom and Buddhist religion.

Around high Manaslu valley with excellent views of all Manaslu range of peaks with Ganesh Himal towards east and Annapurna in the west, where tree lines ends for short alpine bushes and shrubs in this high and dry country.

From Sama-Gaon walk leads to the last village of Manaslu at Samdu and then heading towards our main destination at the base of Larke Peak at Phedi, beneath Larke pass within high mountains and glaciers.

With base camp at Larke Phedi where our adventure starts to reach its tough summit top, one of the most technical trekking peaks in all Nepal Himalaya, where climb leads on rock, snow and ice of 45 to 50 degrees angle, requiring full climbing gears and the climber needs to have experience on snow ice and rock climb.

Larke Peak listed by Nepal Mountaineering Association on Group A category, after a hard struggle climb to the top, rewards you with an experience of a lifetime adventure facing stunning views of Manaslu and its range of peaks with Annapurna includes magnificent majestic Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail).

After completing our short mountaineering expeditions and then heading to cross over Larke-La Pass at above 5,135 m high to reach back into beautiful alpine forest and then heading towards Manang areas at Dharapani and down to warmer villages of Chamje to conclude our adventurous walks.

Our marvelous adventure on Larke Peak Climb completes driving back into hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu after a most overwhelming adventure of all life time on Larke Peak climb.

Larke Peak Climb Dossier:


Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trekking and Larke Peak Climb, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.


Day 02:            In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Larke Peak Climb.

A day in Kathmandu free for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, to obtain permits from concern Government department for the climb


On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.


Day 03:            Drive to Soti Khola 730 m – 05hrs
Morning overland journey on main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone around Dhading and Gorkha district, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.


Finally our exciting drive leads at Arughat town by the raging Burigandaki River within warm sub-tropical area, here taking a rough jeep track road following the river past many farm village and fields to reach our first overnight spot at Soti Khola.


Day 04:            Trek to Machha Khola 930m – 06 hrs.

From Maccha Khola village, starting our first day walk following Burigandaki River upstream through many farm villages, crossing over Nuali khola with views of waterfalls and then cross a stream to Machha Khola for overnight stop. This village named as Machha Khola meaning Fish streams.


Day 05:            Trek to Jagat 1,410m – 06 hrs.

After stop at Macha Khola morning follows Buri Gandaki River upstream, to reach Khorla Beshi a small farm village from here on winding path to reach at Tatopani village with “Hot Spring,” an opportunity for hot bathe on refreshing spring.


After a nice rest walk carries on passing villages of Dovan and Yaruphant to reach Jagat village, after crossing a short suspension bridge, Jagat a moderate size farm villages with shops and stores.


Day 06:            Trek to Dyang 1,800 m – 06 hrs.

From Jagat, walk continues heading higher areas through many small farm villages and then a short climb with downhill crossing over suspension bridge to reach at Nagjet and Philim, a large village with scattered farm houses. After Philim walk through farm terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, then a climb on rocky ridge top into bamboo forest area to our overnight stop at Dyang village.


Day 07:            Trek to Ghap 2,160 m – 04 hrs
Morning walk from Dyang leads to cooler area where you can feel rise in altitude, on entering Himalayan alpine region, continue walk downhill to a river side to reach at Bihi Bazaar a small village near a river side.


From here onwards encountering more villages of strong Tibetan culture, walk leads on gentle trail with few short ups and downs till Ghap village is reached for overnight stop.


Day 08:            Trek to Lo Gaon 3,180 m – 06 hrs.

From Ghap village with nice good walk following Burigandaki River, then crossing this river through small farm villages and cultivated farm fields of barley, wheat and millets to reach at Numrung village with first close views of Mt. Manaslu North Face and adjoining peaks. Walk continues passing few villages of Banjham, Lhi and Sho, then as altitude gains with an hour up to Shrip village to Lo Gaon for overnight stop in a nice cozy lodge.


Day 09:            Trek to Sama Gaon 3,530 m – 05 hrs

After Lo Gaon tree lines fades only for few short juniper bushes and some willow trees, walk leads on nice path with views of peaks and finally the day ends at Sama Gaon for overnight stop, this is a large mountain village located on route Manaslu base camp, Larkya-la pass and to Tibet border.

Day 10:            Rest day in Sama Gaon for acclimatization.
Rest Day in Sama Gaon, which is an ideal place for necessary acclimatization before the climb and to reach high Manaslu base camp, at Sama Gaon explore this interesting village similar to Tibetan culture and traditional way of life.


Day 11:            Trek to Samdu 3,780m -05 hrs.

After a pleasant day at Sama Gaon, trek climbs slowly towards Samdu and beyond,
actually walk to Samdu is not too far can be done within few hours but due to high altitude within dry air makes the walk slower.


Our route slowly leads at Samdu village which is the last village before Larkya-la base and pass, at Samdu overnight in this interesting village of strong Tibetan influence due to its closeness to the border of Tibet, where trade still exists.


Day 12:            Trek to Larke Phedi a base camp for Larke Peak and pass at 4,450 m.
From Samdu walk leads to more barren areas, adventure begins crossing Gyala Khola, then ascending to the ridge where there is a ruins of a village known as Larke Bazaar.

Presumably this village once thrived on trade with Tibet over the nearby Gya La, a trade which at present has diminished.


Walk nears Larkya Glacier reaching at Duwang, where there is a lodge serving travelers crossing Larke- La, overnight camp is just on a clearing.


Day 13:            At Larke Phedi as Base Camp for the climb.

A free day for acclimatization and preparation for the climb a short walk around and to scout the area of climbing routes, with time to explore this un-explored areas with stunning views of mountains of Manaslu.

Day 14:            Trek and climb to establish High Camp at 5,050 m – 04 hrs.

From the Base Camp at Larke Phedi, morning climb across base of Naike Peak and then head towards south to pitched our High Camp right beneath towering peaks of Larke at about 5,050 m high.


Here with ample time for preparation where our guide will do all necessary arrangement for the climb and fixing ropes and pitching snow where necessary on route.


Day 15-16:      Climbing Days to the summit of Larke Peak.

We have reserved two days for this adventurous and exciting climb to the summit of Larke Peak, the climb on first section can be quite strenuous with technical section in few areas, once atop above 6,249 m / 20,621 ft high, feeling high spirit marvel the fascinating views of whole Manaslu range of mountains.


Views includes of North Peak 7,154m and towards east Bouddha, Manaslu and Himal Chuli peaks, after a wonderful and tough haul to the summit top.

After a tough and challenging climb with marvelous views descend to base camp safely towards Larkya Phedi near a Guest House for overnight stop.


Day 17:            Reserve and contingency day in case of unfavorable weather.

This day allows you with complete rest after a great technical climb, a reserve day as well in case of bad and unfavorable weather conditions, which can occur sometimes with quick change in Himalayan climatic patterns.


Day 18:            Traverse Larke pass at 5,135m and descend to Bhimtang – 08 hours.

The walk from Larke Phedi towards top of Larke-la at 5,135m leads on gradual winding uphill, starting early morning to reach highest point of the trek, after the summit of Larke Peak.


Begins with climb beyond Phedi, to reach an ablation valley on north side of Larke Glacier with magnificent views of Cho Danda and then of Larke Peak. Finally, we walk across the moraines of the glacier, making a gradual ascent which becomes steeper in the last section to the top of the pass.


From the pass, outstanding views of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna II can be seen. After a wonderful moment on the highest spot, a long descend follows over snow and scree, to reach the valley trail to Larcia.


A further hour on a moraine ridge path leads to Tambuche at 3,900m and with short distance walk to overnight stop at Bhimtang, a lovely place on a broad and level valley with number of mani walls and lodge to stay.


Day 19:            Trek to Gho 2,560 m – 05 hrs.
After a long day walk to Bhimtang previous day, today an easy day from here to Dharapani through thick forested area of pines, rhododendron trees with view of snow peaks.


From Bhimtang descend to the valley of Burdin Khola around the area and base of west side of Manaslu, from a ridge with excellent view of Manaslu towards south east with Annapurna II in the south west.


Our route leads over Dudh Khola, where descend follows a trail into a narrow valley within forest to reach our overnight stop amidst forest surrounding in perfect tranquility after 5 hours of good walk.


Day 20:            Trek to Dharapani village 1,943m. 5-6 hours.

From here the track leads downhill into forest passing small summer settlement and then climb on a terraced fields to Karche La, and then down to Marsyangdi River.


After few hours of walk coming to the village of Tilje following Dudh (milky) river downstream, passing number of villages, including Thonje, where there is a check post.


From the Tilje an hour climb after crossing a bridge and then joining at main trail of Annapurna circuit joins in Dharapani village.

Dharapani a lovely large village will be a civilization after being in complete wilderness, where one can celebrate with a beer and buy hot shower from the lodge.


Day 21:            Trek to Chamje 1,410 m – 06 hrs.

Journey heads towards south, following main trail following Marsyangdi river downstream, on crossing second bridge walk leads downhill all the way to Tal Besi.


From Tal, an easy walk for a while then descend with great views of waterfalls, after few hours of good walk brings you at Chamje village after crossing a small bridge, the ending point of our great trek and climb of this wonderful journey and adventure.


Day 22:            Drive back to Kathmandu – 07 hrs.
Morning after breakfast a scenic drive to Kathmandu, the drive first passes through farm fields and villages the road then joins main Kathmandu-Pokhara highway at Dumre town. From here another three to fours drive brings you back to Kathmandu.


Day 23:            In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
A free day in Kathmandu an opportunity for another sightseeing tour for few hours or just relax and use this day for own individual activities and shopping.


Day 24:            International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Manaslu Himal with successful climb on top Larke Peak, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
