Introduction:

Mera Peak stands as one of the tallest trekking peaks within Nepal Himalaya at above
6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft high, a striking looking peak well hidden within remote corners east of Khumbu and Everest region.

Mera Peak Trek & Climb leads you into off the beaten tracks away from mainstream trekking trails and human settlements within complete wilderness of mountains and pristine natural surroundings.

On this adventure on Mera Peak Trek & Climb, starts with scenic short flight to Lukla unique airstrip, where our walk commence after a refreshing time in Lukla, and then heading towards complete wilderness of lush alpine vegetation covered with rhododendron-oaks-magnolia-pines and fir trees.

Walking into remote areas of eastern Khumbu within Everest region, as the walk leads over few high passes over Kalo-Himal and Naulekh, which separates Inkhu-Hongu valley and popular route of Khumbu areas.

Fascinating scenery all the way as the walk leads into hidden areas at Inkhu valley covered with dense alpine woodland, a summer pasture of Yaks and other domestic cattle’s, as walk leads around temporary shelters of Yak herders and at Tag-Nag, spending couple of nights here for acclimatization.

Walk continues towards North East leaving the green vegetation and tree lines for remorseless fields of moraine-ice and glaciers at Mera Peak base camp for the ‘Big Climb’ on top 6,461 m and 21, 1907 ft at the summit of Mera Peak.

Climb of Mera Peak although one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal, the route to the summit is straightforward of less technical effort as we have used the Grade from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing classification as PD only, which means ‘Per Difficule’ of less technical climb walking on ice and glaciers.

Final climb to the summit top provides you with breathtaking panorama of world’s highest mountains with Everest-Lhotse-Makalu as far to Kanchenjunga towards eastern horizon, after an exciting climb head back to base camp and onward towards Lukla using the same scenic route.

On reaching Lukla in the comfort of nice hotels and lodge after being in total wilderness in the harmony of mountains, next morning a smooth scenic flight brings you back into civilization within hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu after a remarkable and awesome adventure on Mera Peak Trek & Climb.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding Mera Peak Trek & Climb, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02:                 In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Mera Peak Climb.

We have reserved a day in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments for successful climb of Mera Peak.

On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m (30 mins flight) with free afternoon in Lukla.
Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for sweeping 30 minutes scenic flights in a smaller aircraft to Lukla with panorama of snow clad mountains with Everest in view during airborne.

On reaching at Lukla airport named as Tenzing & Hillary Airport, after sorting out gear and getting organized transfer to nearby nice lodge for overnight stop, with rest of the afternoon free for short excursion to immerse within Sherpa culture and its age old tradition of Buddhist religion.

 

Day 04:                 Trek to Chutanga 3,430 m -04 hrs walks.
Our fantastic adventure to Mera Peak climb, leads with first day walk away from busy Lukla Sherpa town on moderate, winding tracks past farm villages to reach at Chutanga for overnight stop within green surrounding of tall alpine trees with rhododendron-oaks-magnolia and pines.

Day 05: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,300 m – 06 hrs.
After first night in tents with great camping services, morning starts with a climb towards Kalo Himal ridge line of Nau Lekh high rocky range, which separates Khumbu and Hinku valley then heading further east towards Barun and Makalu area.

With tough climb reaching high above 4,450 m at Zatrwa Og, continue walk over Zatrwa-La at 4,600 meters, with views across Dudh Kosi River valley with views of Karyolung and Lumding Himal, and then descend to camp at Thuli Kharka a summer pasture area.

Day 06: Trek to Mousum Kharka 3,430m – 04 hrs.
Morning walks lead downhill with views of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, then reaching at Hinku valley on the least trekked areas by other visitors and adventurer offers views of Mera Peak South Face walk continues into dense rhododendron and pine trees forest to a grazing area at Mosum Kharka for overnight camping.

Day 07: Trek to Tag-Nag 4,360 m – 05 hrs.
Adventure continues towards north east after leaving tree lines and green vegetation, as the walk progress reaching into a wide open valley within grazing land around scattered cattle herders shades at Gondishung 4,350 m near to our overnight stop at Tag-Nag.

Gondishung housesh more than 200 years old small Gompa, walk continues for an hour to Tag-Nag for overnight stop, a temporary place with huts and shades houses a small lodge as tea house.

Day 08:                 Rest day at Tag-Nag for acclimatization.
An ideal and perfect place for rest day and as well for acclimatization before walking towards higher areas towards Mera Peak, this place offers several high hills for best views of surrounding mountains and valley.

Day 09: Trek to Khare near Mera-La and Mera Peak BC at 5, 300m – 04 hrs
After Tag-Nag with pleasant rest day, morning walk leads on moderate trail for few hours and then climb over moraine, damming Charpatti Tal (lake), that leads to a high area lined with rocks and cairns and small glacial lake, from here climb for a while and down downhill walk to Dig Kharka, and over boulder strewn hillside to Khare.

Day 10: Trek to Mera Base Camp 5, 300 m – 04 hrs.

Morning walk leads over Mera glacier, and to icy area for a while then descend to reach at Mera Base Camp after a good walk of 4 hours, with afternoon free at leisure.

 

Day 11:                 Rest and spare day for final preparation to Mera Peak climb.

Another useful and necessary rest day for acclimatization and as well for final preparations for the climb with leisure time to marvel its surrounding amazing views and planning for the big day to Mera Peak summit climb.

 

Day 12:                 Trek and climb to High camp 5,780 m – 04 hrs

From base camp adding one more camps makes the climb much safe and approachable, morning walk follows across Mera la to reach Mera High Camp within tranquil environment, afternoon free with lunch and preparation for next early morning climb on top Mera Peak, while our guides will scout the area for best routes and to make the path much safe with ropes where necessary to safe guard from incidental accidents.

 

Day 13:                 Climb to Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft – 08 hrs

Starting our climb at pre dawn, towards main goal and highlight of the adventure, gaining with steady climb without much technical problem, as the route with straightforward climb, however safety measures should be taken equipped with crampons, ice axe, helmets and positive attitude.

 

After strenuous climb reaching on top Mera Peak summit offers mind blowing views of Mt. Everest,
Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho- Oyu and all the way towards Mt. Kanchenjunga in eastern horizon with array of peaks, after a great climb descend back to base camp using the same route after feeling exhausted but feeling great to have done this marvelous adventurous climb on Mera peak.

 

Day 14: Reserve day in case of unfavorable weather condition.
Sherpa Climbing always reserves an extra day as contingency in case of bad and unfavorable weather conditions, if all goes well this spare can be used on the way to Lukla with ample time to enjoy the walks with fabulous views.

Day 15:                 Cleaning up at base camp with packing for return journey.
Where all members and staff must assemble at base camp for packing and clearing garbage to carry back to Lukla to hand over to SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee) or at designated sites, rest of the day at leisure pulling back the energy after a great climb.

 

Day 16: Trek to Khothay 3,600 m -06 hrs.

From Mera Peak base camp return journey leads to pleasant walks without any problem of altitude gain, although the trail leads you with few ups and downs and then back into green surrounding within rich vegetations and tall trees on reaching at Khothay for overnight stop, a small cattle herder camp and shelter.

 

Day 17: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,200 m – 05 hrs.
Morning walk continues leading into forest then with a steep climb on hills and continue walk on nice grassy meadow on the gradual path to reach our last camp of this trek at Thuli-Kharka.

 

Day 18:                 Trek to Lukla – 07 hrs.
Our wonderful adventure leads to a climb on the same route following a gentle path and then climb on top Naulekh and Kalo Himal ridges with views of Dudh Kosi and Kwangde Himal, as the long walk leads you with steep downhill to Chutanga and then back at Lukla, where you can enjoy afternoon relaxing and celebrating the successful adventure on Mera Peak Trek and Climb with fellow staff-guides-porters and members on this last night in Khumbu and Everest region.

Day 19: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
From Lukla flight starts from early morning to Kathmandu in fine clear weather, sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal our guide and staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 20:                 In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours or enjoy own individual activities.

Day 21: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high and remote Khumbu areas with successful climb on top of Mera Peak, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
