Introduction:

Sherpa Climbing offers one of the least climbing peaks within Central Himalaya with an adventure on top Mt. Dorji Lakpa at 6,996 meters / 23, 087 ft high.

Mt. Dorji Lakpa, located high above around East of Langtang beautiful valley within Jugal Himal range of peaks which is close to Mt. Shisapangma in Tibet.

Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expedition a climb of great technical effort, the area around often ventured by trekkers and adventurer within its complete wilderness.

A stunning peak as seen from Kathmandu valley on a clear day which lies directly towards North  around Jugal Himal and close to Langtang Himalaya range within Bagmati Zone, which is a mere distance of 35 k.m (aeronautical distance) towards north of Kathmandu at 28 15 22 Latitude and Longitude of 85 31 10.

Adventure on Mt. Dorji Lakpa rewards you with peaks of Langtang I (6,672 m) the mid peak, Langtang II or Ghenge Liru 6571m and Langshisa Peak 6,427 m with Mt. Dorji Lakpa at 6,996 m towards due south east from end of Langtang valley, with main high peak Langtang Lirung  at above 7,234m.

Sherpa Climbing adventure to Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expeditions commence with an exciting overland journey to reach high alpine areas of Langtang Himal at Dhunche and Syabrubesi villages dominated by Tamang people a hill tribe.

Walk takes you towards farm villages following Bhote Kosi (Upper Trisuli) river upstream past Lama Hotel-Ghoretabla within dense forested areas to reach at Kyanjin Gompa in the midst of Langtang Valley.

With rest days for acclimatization and short hikes enjoying magnificent views at Kyanjin then our adventure leads eastern side of the valley at Dorji Lakpa base camp beyond Langtang valley in complete wilderness of high mountains that surrounds you at base camp near Langshisa glaciers and moraine.

Mt. Dorji Lakpa one of the most technical climb on ice and rocks to reach its summit top, which offers grand panorama of peaks with close views of Tibetan plateau, as the peak lies at the rim of Tibet and Nepal border line.

Due to high technical climb, one should be familiar with use of crampons, harness, and ice-axe, tying knots, climbing ropes. On this climb involves walking roped together, including glacial crossings.

On completing the climb of more than twelve days from base camp with great success and achieving a life time dream feeling high, descend safely back for the journey back to road head at Syabrubesi village, where exciting and scenic drive brings you into hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu after an adventurous and remarkable time on Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expedition.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:            Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02-03:       In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expeditions.
Day 04:            Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m via Trisuli Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Day 05:            Trek to Lama Hotel 2,430 m – 06 hours.
Day 06:            Trek to Langtang village 3,430 m -06 hours.
Day 07:            Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850 m -04 hours.
Day 08:            At Kyanjin Gompa rest day for acclimatization.
Day 09:            Trek to Numthang 3, 830m – 06 hrs.
Day 10:            Trek to Moraine Camp and Dorji Lakpa base camp at 4,580 m – 05 hrs.
Day 11:            Rest day for acclimatization and climbing practice.
Day 12:            Climb to High Camp at 5,135 m – 04 hrs.
Day 13-24:       Climbing duration of 12 days.
Day 25:            Return to Base Camp and clean up the Base Camp.
Day 26:            Trek to Numthang or further – 05 hrs.

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trekking and Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expedition, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02-03:      In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Dorji Lakpa Expeditions.

We have allowed and reserved Two days in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, press meeting and to collect permits from concern Government department for the expeditions.

On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 04:            Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460m- 06 hours.
Morning starts with exciting scenic drive away from Kathmandu valley, as the drive leads towards North past Nuwakott town and village to reach at Dhunche, headquarter town of Rasuwa district where Langtang National park starts, Dhunche at 1,900 m and then drive leads downhill on winding road to reach at Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.

Day 05:            Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.
After fresh morning with mountain air, first day walk of the adventure starts on gradual trail to cross a bridge over Bhote Kosi or upper Trisuli River, after the bridge climb leads to a ridge past scattered Tamang farm villages and terraces to enter into cool alpine forest of tall rhododendron-hemlocks-oaks-magnolia and fir tree lines.

Around this forested area where rare and endangered Red Panda habitats, which is seldom seen along the walk on to Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Lama Hotel placed in a clearing surrounded within beautiful forests near a raging Upper Trisuli River.

Day 06:            Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours.
From Lama Hotel onward walks lead into a gorge covered with dense thick forest offering views of Langtang Lirung along the walk to reach at Ghoretabela, located in the midst of green woodland, after a pleasant rest walk continues with short ups into a forest to reach at Langtang village for overnight stop.

Langtang village was badly destroyed in 2015 earthquakes, this village is slowly coming back to normal; here visit around Tamang farm houses enrich with old culture of Buddhism religion.

Day 07:            Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
After breakfast, today a short walk to Kyanjin Gompa located within beautiful Langtang valley, one of the highlight of Mt. Dorji Lakpa expedition.

Walk starts with short climb as the gorge opens into a wide scenic valley, where tree lines drops for short alpine bushes of azalea plants and juniper bushes with dramatic views of snow covered peaks.

Slowly walk takes you at Kyanjin with an altitude of above 3,850 m high surrounded with views of high mountains.

At Kyanjin with overnight stop, afternoon time relax and catch magnificent views and explore its small Cheese factory, established and support of Swiss technical assistance.

Day 08:            Rest day for local hike and acclimatization.
A free day to get acclimatize before our big climb, here marvel the beautiful views of landscapes and peaks, hike to Tsego Ri or Kyanjin hill at 4,700 m high with views of Ghengu Liru (Langtang II 6,571m / 21,560ft), Langtang Lirung (7,425m / 23,765ft) Kimshun (6,745m / 22,137ft) and Shalbachum(6,918m / 22, 699ft) to the south, the Chimsedang Lekh a ridge of peaks includes Naya-Kanga 5,846m or Ganjala peak with Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak.

Stretch towards Jugal Himal, ending at Mt. Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m / 22,854 ft) within east direction leads to upper meadows at the very end of Langtang valley forming a massive mountain wall and a frontier with Tibet.

Day 09:            Trek to Numthang 3, 830m – 06 hrs.
After a marvelous and enjoyable time at Kyanjin within wonderful Langtang valley, our adventure continues towards remote and isolated areas away from human settlement and villages for few weeks in complete wilderness.

Walk leads further east at the end of Langtang valley towards Langshisa and Dorji Lakpa peaks with marvelous views along the trek towards Numthang around summer grazing areas of Yaks and other domestic cattle.

Finally our nice day walk ends in a large grassy meadow at Numthang for overnight halt before heading towards Dorji Lakpa base camp.

At Numthang, on finding a suitable open space on grassy field to pitch our first camping and other facilities which includes separate kitchen unit of cook-kitchen staff along with guides and porters.

Day 10:            Trek to Moraine Camp and Dorji Lakpa base camp at 4,580 m – 05 hrs.
Starting our morning walk crossing a fast flowing icy stream fresh from the glacier of Langshisa and climb over small ridges of moraine and glacier of Langshisa, this walk sometimes needs crampons our guide will make the path accessible and much easier fixing ropes where necessary for safety.

 

On the ridge top enjoy the views of surrounding high peaks of Langtang and Jugal Himal range with Dorje Lakpa at close distance, after enjoying the views walk to our actual base camp on a clearing in this perfect wilderness near Lingshing Himal and Dorji Lakpa within Langshisa glacier.

 

Day 11:            Rest day for acclimatization and climbing practice.
This day for acclimatization and preparation for the climb, our climbing guide and leader will provide instruction on climbing techniques, sharing their knowledge to make this climb a great success.

 

Day 12:            Climb to High Camp at 5,135 m – 04 hrs.
From Base Camp with full preparation climb towards Langshisa glacier to reach our High Camp for the summit bid of Mt. Dorji Lakpa, on this walk and climb where crampons and ice-axe requires in some section of the climb till High Camp.

Tents are pitched on finding a safe and suitable spot directly beneath the snout of Mt. Dorji Lakpa.

 

Day 13-24:      Climbing duration of 12 days.

Sherpa Climbing reserves maximum of twelve days duration for the climb to the summit and back to base camp, during these days busy ferrying load at necessary high camps and making route for the final assault to its summit at above 6,966 m and 22,854 ft high one of the highest above 6,000 meters peaks.

 

To reach the summit requires at least Camp II above 6,100 m high after High / Advance Camp a tough technical mountain to climb, but possible with much patience and endurance as the right clear weather permits.

 

Our expert guide supports you all the way to the summit top, where you will be enlighten with awesome views of mountains around Langtang and Jugal Himal range includes Mt. Shisapangma towards North within Tibet just across the border line.

 

After a tough adventure of a lifetime experience descend safely back to base camp for return journey.

 

Day 25:            At Base Camp for clean up and packing.
After great climb to the summit of Mt. Dorji Lakpa feeling high spirit descend to base camp for overnights, where every member and staff should be at Base Camp on this day to start cleaning garbage and packing gears as Nepal Himalaya has thousands of trekkers and climbing peaks every year.  Carry the garbage to dump at designated disposal sites on route Syabrubesi.

 

Day 26:            Trek to Numthang or further – 05 hrs.
From base camp head towards Langtang valley at Numthang, after loading gears with porters and guide to assist, walk leads on the same route where care should be taken on slippery path around moraine sections and then crossing a stream to reach at Numthang for overnight stop.

Day 27:            Trek back to Kyanjin Gompa.
With great and marvelous time around at the end of Langtang valley with spectacular views walk is easier with gentle ups and down to Kyanjin Gompa for last overnight in beautiful Langtang Valley, here transfer into a nice cozy lodge.

Day 28:            Trek to Lama Hotel – 07 hrs.
After a marvelous time at Kyanjin, morning walk leads back on same route to Lama-Hotel a small settlement situated in the middle of a dense green forest near upper Trisuli River.

Day 29:            Trek back to Syabrubesi village – 05 hrs.
Our final day of the adventure and expedition, morning walk leads on the same trail which gives you time to enjoy the views along the route, as the route leads downhill into cool shade of forest, as walk leads through farm fields and nice tended terraces to reach at Syabrubesi for last overnight stop around beautiful Langtang region.

Day 30:            Drive to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Our adventure with last day around Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal completes today as the morning leads to exciting drive through farmlands, village and town to reach Kathmandu after an enjoyable and great moment on Langtang Valley and climb of Mt. Dorji Lakpa.

Day 31-32:      In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
Two days reserved as spare and free day in case of delay on climb due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, on this day where our leader and guide will submit the reports on Mt. Dorji Lakpa Expeditions at concern Nepal Government Tourism department.

 

After an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities, these two days

Day 33:            International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Manang areas with successful climb on top of Mt. Dorji Lakpa, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
