Introduction:

Mt. Pumori towers high at 7,161 meter within scenic Khumbu valley around Sagarmatha Zone at
28 00 53 Latitude and 86 49 41 Longitude which forms the northern boundary barrier between Tibet and Nepal, the mountain is also visible from Rongbuk in Tibet.

Mt. Pumori Expedition leads you close to Mt. Everest and Lhotse within a mere distance, the climb of Mt. Pumori one of the best challenging peaks with some technical effort required will be a best choice of mountains of above 7,000 meters high before joining and planning for 8,000 m peaks.

Mt. Pumori Expedition leads you north mid east Himalayan range within high and scenic Khumbu around  Everest region, trek up to Pumori base camp on the same trail of Everest base camp, where from Gorakshep route diverts towards our main goal and highlight of the adventure.

Mt. Pumori looks close from the top of black rock Kalapathar at 5,545m, a popular trekkers view points to view Pumori and Mt. Everest at close distance with other giant surrounding peaks with views of Khumbu glacier and Ice Falls.

Mt Pumori Expedition, where climb is undertaken from its South East route to reach the summit of Pumori Southern Face, the mountain formed with much snow, ice and rocks in most section on the climb, the peak covered in thick blanket of snow right up to its summit.

The Southern Face from Nepal side of Mt. Pumori is dome shaped knitted together on the same ridge lines with arrays of peaks that links with Mt. Everest.

Starting our adventure on Mt. Pumori Expedition taking a scenic short flight in a small aircraft to land at Tenzing-Hillary airport in Lukla with its unique airstrip and small runways, in Lukla after getting organized and loading gears on pack animals and porters, where walk leads towards Dudh Kosi River.

Walking past nice Sherpa farm villages encountering many Mani (prayer) walls and spinning bells as the route leads past Phakding and Monjo villages with grand views of Kwangde-Kusum Kanguru with Tharmarserku peaks.

Our trek leads into lovely alpine woodland towards Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese), from here heading high to reach famous Namche Bazaar for rest days, an ideal place with heights of 3,440 m for acclimatization and short hikes.

From Namche walk leads on gradual scenic trail to reach at scenic spot at Thyangboche Monastery with grand views of Everest-Ama Dablam and other high peaks that surrounds this pretty spot, where climbers can visit the monastery of great interest.

After Thyangboche where vegetation and tree lines drops for arctic landscapes within arid and windswept valley as the route leads past Pangboche-Dingboche-Lobuche village and settlement to reach at Gorakshep with few nice lodges facing views of Mt. Pumori.

From Gorakshep our actual adventure starts heading towards Pumori base camp for grand climb to its summit top after much preparations and rest days, the climb powered by Sherpa Climbing expert team of staff and guides to reach the summit safely and back.

After a marvelous climb with an adventure of a lifetime experience heading back to Lukla for scenic flight to Kathmandu with memorable and remarkable time on Mt. Pumori Expedition.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:         Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02-03:  In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Mt. Pumori Expeditions.
Day 04:        Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 05:        Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 06:        Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 07:        Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 08:        Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05hrs.
Day 09:        Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.
Day 10:         Trek to Gorakshep 5,180 m and climb Kalapathar and to Pumori BC 5,400 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11-12:    At Base Camp to get organized for the climb.
Day 13-24:   (12 days) Ascent of Mount Pumori and withdrawal to Base Camp.
Day 25:         All climbing and team-members to re-group at Base Camp.
Day 26:         At Base Camp cleaning up and packing for return trek to Lukla.
Day 27:          Trek to Pangboche 3,900 m – 06 hrs.
Day 28:          Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Day 29:          Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
Day 30:          Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 31-32:     In Kathmandu rest and submit expeditions report to concern department.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trekking and Mt. Pumori Expedition, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02-03:           In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Mt. Pumori Expeditions.

We have allowed and reserved Two days in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, press meeting and to collect permits from concern Government department for the expeditions.

On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 04:  Fly to Lukla 2,886m and walk to Phakding 2,640m – 04 hrs
Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for sweeping 30 minutes scenic flight in a smaller aircraft to Lukla with panorama of snow clad mountains with Everest in view during airborne.

 

On reaching at Lukla airport named Tenzing & Hillary Airport, after sorting out gear and getting refreshed start walk to Phakding for overnight stop, as the route leads towards many Sherpa farm villages with great views, and the slowly walk reaches you at Phakding village for first overnight in Khumbu region.

 

Day 05: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs.

Morning walk starts walking on the bank of Dudh Kosi River, crossing bridges to reach at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo village, after checking inside the Park walk leads to last village at Jorsalle.

 

From here walk leads to cross last high bridge and then with uphill walk for few hours heading towards Namche Bazaar, here with two nights in this prosperous large village as well the main centre and capital of Khumbu, where one can find facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful Saturday market.

 

Day 06:                 Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

Namche an ideal place for acclimatization, on rest relax or take a short hike up to the park museum which houses great range of information from mountaineering, flora- fauna with Sherpa cultures and Buddhist religion.

 

From here enjoy grand panorama of high snow capped mountains with Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest and stunning peak Amadablam, other optional walk up to Everest View Hotel for another beautiful views of surrounding mountains.

 

Day 07:                 Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
After a pleasant rest at Namche, morning walk on gradual winding trail into rhododendron woodland, with views of Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tharmarserku and Kwangde peaks.

 

Walk leads to a short descend to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga, after a refreshing stop climb for few hours into a cool serene forest to Thyangboche Monastery.

 

A scenic spot with grand views of Amadablam, Kangtenga, Tharmarserku, Kwangde and Mt. Everest, a holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here.

Mountaineers take blessing from high lama or priest for successful climb and safe expedition.

 

Day 08:  Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05 hrs.
Morning on downhill walk into lovely birch-rhododendron and pines forest, from here nice and pleasant walks and then our route leads to cross a bridge over Imja Khola. From here a gentle climb to reach Pangboche village with an old monastery.

 

This is the last permanent village before Everest and Lhotse Base Camps, after Pangboche tree lines drops for short rhododendron and juniper bushes. The trail leads to exposed area with views of Mt. Amadablam after crossing a last bridge leading to a climb to reach within beautiful and scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche for overnight stop.

 

Dingboche offers fabulous views of Amadablam North Face, Island / Imjatse Peak, Nuptse and Lhotse mountains, a little higher climb on the ridge offers views of world’s 5th highest
Mt. Makalu beyond Amphu Labtsa peak.

 

Day 09:  Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.

On leaving Dingboche, short climb to a ridge with prayer monuments and then on gradual trail with slow climb to reach at Thugla (Dugla), here trail from Pheriche valley and Dingboche joins towards Everest and Lhotse Base Camps.

 

From Thugla first views of Mt. Pumori with Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Ama Dablam, after a lunch break and rest climb leads up to terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier coming a across many memorial of unfortunate climbers died on mountain of Khumbu, from here continue walk to Lobuche for overnight stop.

 

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m climb Kalapathar and walk to Pumori BC 5,400 m.

Our route today quite tough due to gain in altitude offering tremendous views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse, Lhotse and Mt. Everest.

 

After few hours of strenuous scenic walk reaching at Gorakshep as the walk leads over moraine and icy path, Gorakshep a nice small place with some nice lodges on route Pumori and Everest Base Camps, after a break here with optional hike uphill to Kalapathar top at 5,545 m high, offers fantastic close view of Mt. Pumori and Mt. Everest with surrounding peaks including Lhotse and Nuptse.

 

After an eye catching views downhill to Gorakshep and continue walk to Pumori Base Camp as the trail leads over ice and moraine and then ending the day walk at Pumori Base Camp.

 

Day 11 -12:                          At base camp acclimatization and preparations.

Two days at base camp for rest and climbing preparation, gathering all climbing gears from the porters and Yaks sorting out the right equipments and planning with some practices before the final climb on top Mt. Pumori.

Day 13-24:           (12 days) Ascent of Mount Pumori and withdrawal to Base Camp.
We have reserved 12 full days for final bid and ascent of Mt. Pumori summit, after final preparation for the great climb to the summit with some technical effort around massive tumbling boulders of ice and snows.

From base camp at 5,400 m high, climbing with some technically difficulty over Ice-rocks and snow, the climbing route will be taken care by our expert climbing guides with necessary secure and safety procedure, from above base camp one requires positive attitude and thinking with physical and much mental effort to attempts the climb a success.

The climbs requires at least 2-3 camps to reach the summit, however with our climb for 12 days, using maximum 3 camps before reaching at summit of Mt. Pumori. The last camp will be at a ridge linking close with Linktrin Himal.

 

During these days one can start loading and carrying gears to Advance Camp onward to Camp I and Camp II, once everyone is well acclimatized, Camp I will be mostly by-passed en-route for Camp II, which will become an Advance Base Camp. The route to this point will involve crossing crevasses and ice falls, jumaring up serac walls and a long tedious plod-up the designated campsites.

Camp III will be close up near the summit at above 6, 800 meters high, from here a long rising traverse across the snow slopes, leads to the South East Face of Pumori.

As weather permits with clear fine morning follow our lead guide and leaders towards summit on top
7, 161 meter high facing stunning views both side of Mt. Everest North and South with arrays of surrounding high peaks.

After a breathtaking experiences and feeling high on top of the world descend back safely towards base camp using few camps on route downhill.

Day 25-26:           At Base Camp to get organized for the climb.
All members, staff and guides should reach at base camp to clean up the camp and as well packing and loading equipments for Yaks and other pack animals with porters, on reaching at base camp after a long tough haul to the top, enjoy the day with scenic views with rest after a hard climb.

Day 27:                 Trek to Pangboche 3,900 m – 06 hrs.
Morning after a successful climb on top Mt. Pumori, return journey to Gorakshep and then walk to Thugla, from here downhill to Pheriche on a windy valley after a nice pleasant walk.

From Pheriche walk continues with super views of Amadablam, Nuptse wall, Lhotse, and then heading downhill and back into lower altitude within tree lines, as the walk leads to our overnight stop in Pangboche village.

 

Day 28:                 Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.

Walk continues retracing the same route from Pangboche, after crossing a bridge an hour climb to Thyangboche Monastery with amazing scenery. Morning walk continues with descend to Imjatse River at Phunge tenga.

 

After crossing the bridge a steep uphill for an hour then with gentle winding walk all the way to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop. (Energetic people can use the route to Namche visiting Everest View Hotel or Khumjung and Khunde village)

 

Day 29: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.

From Namche on downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, and then with few short ups and downs to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then walk to Monjo village.

 

After Monjo with short rest retrace the journey back to Lukla on the same gradual scenic route back to Lukla with memorable adventure climb to Mt. Everest, last day walk back to Lukla on a gradual winding trail passing Phakding and Ghat village then with last uphill climb to Lukla for lunch and overnight stop, evening party and last dinner at Khumbu area.

 

Day 30: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
From Lukla flight starts from early morning to Kathmandu in fine clear weather, sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal our guide and staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 31-32:           In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
Two days reserved as spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, on this day where our leader and guide will submit the reports on Mt. Pumori Expeditions at concern Nepal Government Tourism department..

After an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities, these two days

Day 33: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high Khumbu with successful climb on top of Mt. Pumori, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
