Introduction:

Trek and climb of Paldor Peak & Mt. Ganesh Himal Area with an adventure on the less visited region of west Langtang and Ganesh Himal country.

Sherpa Climbing offers this unique adventure ‘on off the beaten tracks’, away from main trekking trails and as well for human habitants for some days till the walk ends at Trisuli Bazaar around warmer areas of Nuwakott district.

Truly a fascinating and scenic trek and climb of Paldor Peak tucked within massive Ganesh Himal which is also known by local name as Yangri Khang, this huge and massif Ganesh Himal which can be seen from Kathmandu valley on a clear day.

Paldor stands at 5,896 m and 19,457 ft high one of the smaller peaks of Ganesh Himal massive the climb grade as PD ‘Peu Difficile’ of less technical effort and a straight forward climb to its summit top, where one has to be well equipped use of crampons, ice axe are necessary while climbing over glaciers.

The climbing grade used from French /Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification System which is popular and used world-wide on this type of peak challenge.

This wonderful adventure starts with an interesting drive from Kathmandu to reach Ganesh Himal areas for the classic climb on top Paldor Peak, drive leads past many farm, rural villages and towns and reaching at Dhunche town of above 1,965m.

Dhunche a major and headquarter town of Rasuwa district where Langtang National Park starts from here heading down to Tamang village of Syabrubesi.

From Syabrubesi begins our adventurous walks into complete wilderness in the harmony of mountains and pristine nature.

Walk leads past some areas of Tamang Heritage Trail around Tamang village into enchanting forest lined with rhododendron, pines, firs, oaks and magnolia to reach at Somdang village 3,270 meters high.

Somdang last human settlement offers views of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung 7,246 m, Lenpo Gang 7,083m, Dorje Lakpa 6,990 m and massif Mt. Shisapangma 8,027m on Tibetan side and as far to Annapurna and Manaslu range of mountains.

Walk continues reach our main destination at Paldor Peak base camp having rest days and acclimatization before the climb on top Paldor Peak.

At Paldor peak base camp with time for hike with impressive views of snow capped mountains and rolling green hills that surround you at base camp.

Paldor Base Camp located beneath massive and towering Mt. Ganesh Himal at 7,422 m / 24,350 ft, the highest peaks range is Yangra or Ganesh I, Ganesh Himal located over green valleys and clearly seen from Kathmandu.

Our climb leads over moraine and ice with rocks and boulders to high camp at 5,150 m / 14,435 ft high, here with rest and acclimatization, and then heading towards summit where our expert guides will maintain routes on fixing ropes where necessary for safe and successful climb of Paldor Peak.

After a vigorous adventure on top Paldor Peak at 5, 896 meters high with magnificent panorama of surrounding high mountains from Langtang Lirung 7,246 m, Lenpo Gang 7,083m, Dorje Lakpa 6,990 m and massif Mt. Shisapangma 8,027m on Tibetan side.

View towards Mt. Annapurna 8,091 m with Mt. Manaslu 8,163 m, after a marvelous experience heading back to Trisuli with an alternative route reaching at warm areas of Trisuli bazaar for the drive to Kathmandu on concluding our remarkable and memorable adventure on Paldor Peak Climb.

Day 03:            Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m via Trisuli Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Day 04:            Trek to Gatlang 2,438 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05:            Trek to Somdang 3,270 m – 06 hrs.
Day 06:            Trek to Paldor Base Camp 4,500 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07:            At Paldor Base Camp rest and acclimatization.
Day 08:            Climb to High Camp 5,150 meters – 04 hrs.
Day 09:            Summit of Paldor Peak 5,896 m and return to Base Camp.
Day 10:            Spare and contingency day in case of unfavorable bad weather.
Day 11:            Trek to Pansing Bhanjyang Phedi 3,822 m – 06 hrs.

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding trekking and climb of

Paldor Peak, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

 

Day 02:            In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Paldor Peak Climb.

In Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments,
on this free day take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

 

Day 03:            Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460m- 06 hours.
Morning starts with exciting scenic drive away from Kathmandu valley, as the drive leads towards North past Nuwakott town and village to reach at Dhunche, headquarter town of Rasuwa district where Langtang National park starts, Dhunche at 1,900 m and then drive leads downhill on winding road to reach at Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.

 

Day 04:            Trek to Gatlang 2,438 m – 05 hrs.

First day walk of the adventure starting with a steep climb to Goljung village, at present using trekking routes avoiding motor road, on the walks with super views of mountain, after Goljung village leads you with pleasant walk of short ups and downs to reach a nice and large Tamang village at Gatlang for overnight stop.

 

Gatlang a lovely and impressive village with a monastery here will be greeted by local people with Khada (a Buddhist prayer silk scarf) used on all occasion and ceremony with chang (home – made drinks), afternoon free at leisure to visit the village and interact with the locals.

 

Day 05:            Trek to Somdang 3,270m – 06 hrs.
After an enjoyable and wonderful time at Gatlang village, morning walk leads to a climb through forests, on the criss crossing trail to Khumpu Danda at 3,739m with fantastic views of Annapurna Himal range in the west and view of Langtang Himal in the east, then the walk follows through Mailung Khola, and climb up to the ridge of Tiru Danda and to Pansing Bhanjyang pass.

 

This scenic path descends through pine and rhododendron forest to reach the new road. Following the road for a while, as this newly constructed road has been extended to the army post at Samathang, our trek continues with a steep climb then reaching our first camping spot near the small Somdang village.

 

Day 06:            Trek to Paldor Base Camp 4,500m – 05 hrs.

From Somdang leaving the last village for few days trekking towards the base of Ganesh Himal, morning walk leads to a climb above Somdang village and the quarry of manganese mine explored and made the route here by the Nepal Army, the walk leaving behind the last tree lines, on the uphill path climbing steeply above the river gorge. The walk leads to some rocky section then with a climb traversing towards the north-eastwards to a small valley bounded by moraines below the glaciers of Paldor Peak. Here with suitable spot for the overnight camp for two days, this camp lies beneath the confluence of Paldor West and Paldor East glaciers just north of a fine rock pinnacle that earlier climber named Cleare called ‘Neddy’s Thumb’, at an altitude of 4,500 meters.

 

Day 07:            At Base Camp for local hike and exploration.
A perfect place for rest day and to explore the surrounding area with amazing views of Manaslu and Annapurna range with Mt. Machhapuchare “Fish Tail” towards west, and looking north the giant massive peaks of Ganesh Himal, this mountain is clearly seen from Kathmandu valley also on a clear fine day, towards North east view of Langtang and Jugal Himal range of mountains all the way to the Tibetan side of mountains.

 

Day 08:            Climb to High Camp 5,150m -04 hrs.
Heading higher, as the morning walk progress with a steep then scrambling up across the moraine slopes and further through the boulder fields to the more level glacier, and finally reaching the overnight high camp on a nice clearing beneath the majestic Paldor peak.

 

Day 09:            Ascent of Paldor Peak and return to Base Camp.
After several days of walk finally waiting for the big day, the main highlight of the adventure, starting early morning at pre-dawn following Paldor glacier without any difficulty then climb on steep snow slope reaching a col.

Then over hard ice to its ridge top, continue climb over several pinnacles of loose rock leading to a horizontal snow arêtes that narrows dramatically, following this to the foot of the final 150 meter 492 ft headwall.
Finally reaching the summit top with panorama of mountains, after a mesmerizing time at the top and then descend towards base camp.

 

Day 10:            Contingency day in case of unfavorable bad weather condition.

We have reserved an extra day which will be as contingency day, in case of unfavorable weather conditions some times in this high Himalayan range, the weather can be unpredictable, so an extra day on this type of adventure is very necessary, if all goes well can be used on the way back to Trisuli having short day walk enjoying the great scenery along the way.

 

Day 11:            Trek to Pansing Bhanjyang Phedi  3,822m – 06 hrs
Journey with a magnificent hard climb, morning walk leads down towards west bank of the river and then a climb into pristine forest leading to a pass of Tiru Danda. From here, walk leads to the meadow and Sheppard’s shades and huts below the pass for overnight camp.

 

From campsite offers views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal and beyond to Jugal Himal with Manaslu range of peaks.

 

Day 12:            Trek to Rupchet 4,000m -06 hrs
Morning walk heading south, with few ups and mostly down with couple of switch backs from one side of the ridge to other, offering grand views of mountains. After a dramatic downhill off the end of high Tiru Danda, and then reaching at Rupchet just before tree-lines for overnight camp.

 

Day 13:            Trek to Saline 2,500 m – 05 hrs.
From Rupchet after a nice morning, journey continues through lush forests of rhododendron then on the long downhill towards Salankhu Khola, then back to human settlement after days being in complete wilderness, walk passes into farm lands and small villages and finally Saline village for overnight camp.

 

Day 14:            Trek to Deurali 1,500m -05 hrs.

Morning starts walking through cultivated terraced field, and then crossing a steep small pass and to dense forests leaving behind some small hamlets and village down at Deorali farm village for overnight camp.
Day 15:            Trek to Trisuli Bazaar and drive back to Kathmandu -05 hrs.
Today our wonderful trek and climb ends at Trisuli Bazaar, morning walk follows downhill past farm lands and scattered villages reaching around low warmer areas, and then finally reaching Trisuli Bazaar a thriving busy town.

 

After a break here drive leads back to Kathmandu on a winding downhill past villages and town to reach at Kathmandu by late afternoon after an adventure on high Ganesh Himal with climb of Paldor Peak.

 

Day 16:            In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
A free day in Kathmandu an opportunity for another sightseeing tour for few hours or just relax and use this day for own individual activities and shopping.

 

Day 17:            International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Ganesh and Langtang Himal areas with successful climb on top Paldor Peak, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
