Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa trekking, a mind blowing adventure leading you to beautiful Rolwaling Valley surrounded with high peaks of Jugal and Cho-Oyu Himalaya range, one of the most challenging trip in all Himalayan region crossing over high Tahsi Labtsa pass at 5,755 m and 18, 991 ft high.
Truly an adventure with breath-taking scenery from Rolwaling valley to Khumbu areas of Everest region following the footsteps of legend Yeti trail within and beyond Rolwaling into total wilderness of remorseless fields of ice-moraine and glaciers with arctic terrain.
Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa trekking, one of the least explored adventure destination, where trekkers and explorer seldom penetrates this awesome areas of Rolwaling hidden beneath towering Gauir-Shanker Himal and Melung-Tse peaks.
On this area where trek leads to pristine alpine forest and around Sherpa villages enriched with age-old culture and traditional farm life of Buddhist religion, where you can visit its nice villages and monasteries of great interest.
Adventure begins with a drive from Kathmandu to reach Mid East Himalaya range past nice and scenic town and villages of Charikot and Dolkha towns and then following the road to our trekking point, close to Tibet border near Lama Bagar by the bank of glacial Tama Kosi River.
Walking towards uphill full of farm terraces past Simi-Gaon to reach Beding within Rolwaling valley, one of the largest mountain villages of Rolwaling and Sherpa people, with rest and acclimatization walk leads towards the end of the valley for actual adventure to cross one of the highest pass in Himalaya.
After much preparation climb to the top of Tashi-Labtsa marked with prayer stones and Buddhist colorful prayer flags, and then descend towards Khumbu area within Everest region to reach at sleepy and quaint Thame village with an old 550 yrs old monastery.
From Thame onwards with excellent walks with mountain views to reach at famous Namche Bazaar with colorful houses with fine stores and shops, with time to enjoy at Namche heading towards our end of the adventure in Lukla.
Lukla for last overnight in the comfort of nice lodge, next morning a smooth and sweeping short flight of 30 minutes brings you back in Kathmandu, after an overwhelming adventure of a life time experience on Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa Pass Trekking.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Rolwaling and Tashi Labtsa.
Day 03: Drive to Gongar 1,400m via Charikot -07 hrs journey.
Day 04: Trek to Simigaon 2,000 m – 05 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Dovan 2,500 m – 06 hours.
Day 06: Trek to Beding 3,693m – 05 hours.
Day 07: Rest day for acclimatization and short hikes.
Day 08: Trek to Na Gaon 4,183m – 04 hours.
Day 09: Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa 4,560m – 05 hours.
Day 10: Trek to Drolambau Glacier near Tashi Laptsa Base 5,400 m -05 hrs.
Day 11: Climb Tashi Laptsa Pass 5,755 m and towards other side at Tengpo 4,900 m -07 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Thame 3,800 m -5 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Namche Bazaar, 3,440 m -05 hrs.
Day 14: Rest day at Namche to recover from tough walks and crossing high pass.
Day 15: Trek to Lukla 2,820 m – 06 hrs.
Day 16: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu – 30 mins and transfer to hotels.
Day 17: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 18: International Departure homeward bound.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.
Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa trekking, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.
Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for trekking and climb of
Free day in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, on this free day take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.
Day 03: Drive to Gongar 1,400 m via Charikot – 07 hrs journeys.
Our marvelous adventure begins with a drive on Kathmandu-Jiri highway, an interesting ride on the mid-hills of Himalaya, passing villages and towns of Charikot and Dolkha to reach at the base of Rolwaling area reaching at Gongar, a small farm villager nearby Tama Kosi River, which flows from Tibet and Gaurishanker mountains.
Day 04: Trek to Simigaon 2,000 m- 05 hrs.
From Gongar morning walk over Tama Kosi and into a narrow gorge to reach at Chetchet with views of waterfalls, then climb towards cooler zone after leaving warm rice paddy areas.
Walk climbs towards alpine hills reaching our overnight camp at Simigaon village inhabited by Sherpa tribes, a nice farm village growing corns, potatoes, wheat’s, barley and millets, afternoon free visit the old monastery with views of Mt. Gaurishanker and Melung Tse peak.
Day 05: Trek to Dovan 2,850 m – 05 hrs.
Morning walk starts heading North East into terraced farm fields and then within lovely forest of rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, and pine trees, walk continues above a hill and then on downhill past cattle herders shades and huts at Gyalche.
After an hour of good walk reaching our overnight camp at Dovan, by the river that flows from the mountains high above, Dovan a small settlement in the middle of a forest with few farm houses.
Day 06: Trek to Beding 3,690m – 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads to cross over Rolwaling Khola (stream) then climbing up into forested area, where path winds up to reach at Nyimare and Ramding farm a temporary settlements of cattle herders.
Walk continues to a climb and then completing the day reaching at Beding village for overnight stop.
Beding village mostly dominated by Sherpa people a last permanent village within Rolwaling Valley, village set in a gorge with an old monastery and a primary school built by Hillary Trust and Foundation.
Day 07: Rest day for acclimatization and short hikes.
Today a rest day for acclimatization before heading higher areas and climb above high Tashi Labtsa Pass and Pachermo Peak, on this day short hike around for better views of the mountains and Rolwaling scenic valley.
An important rest day which is necessary preparation for the climb over a high pass, here our guide provides necessary information of the area, culture, religion with technique for the climb over Tashi Labtsa high pass.
Day 08: Trek to Na Gaon 4,180m – 04hrs.
Walk today leads towards at the end of beautiful Rolwaling valley facing towering
Mt. Gaurishanker 7,145 m and Melung Tse (Jobo Garee) peaks 7,181 m, after Beding village walk up-hill with views of snowcapped peaks of Ramdung Go 5,925 m, Chukyima go 6,259 m, Tabayabyum 5,558 m, and Yalung ri 5,630 m.
Finally our morning good and scenic walk reaches into a wide glacial valley within far end of Rolwaling ending with wall of mountains.
After a pleasant walk reaching at Na Gaon, a temporary settlement of Beding villagers a cattle herders place and Yak pasture fields, where local people grows potatoes, wheat’s and barley. Afternoon relax and explore this beautiful areas with short walks.
Day 09: Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa 4,560m. 4-5 hours.
After a pleasant time at the end of Rolwaling Valley, our next adventure begins from here onwards as morning walk starts crossing over a river towards south bank and then following a shallow stream to Yersa at Sangma, the last temporary shelters of Yak and cattle herders.
After crossing over a wooden bridge climb up on moraines, and then traverse steeply above a main stream to reach the terminal moraine, close to the dam of Tsho Rolpa.
The lake also known as Cho / Tsho Pokhari, our camp on a sandy level ground south side of Tsho Rolpa within Kabuk area, after tough five hours walk.
From the camp catch views of surrounding peaks includes Tsoboje 6,689 m and Dragker-Go peaks above 6,793 m.
Day 10: Trek to Drolambau Glacier near Tashi Laptsa Base Camp at 5,400 m -05 hrs.
From here walk leads to traverse over a moraine above north of the lake, continue walk right along the moraine, occasionally passing rocks overhangs, as walk follows high slopes above glacier avoiding lower section.
Trek along to the centre of hard and rocky glacier to reach our camp beneath Drolambu ice-fall. The steady walk leads to the lowest point of the icefall and then climbing at the point to gain over Drolambau glacier.
Around this section there is some danger of rock-falls sometimes during the day, the middle moraine provides a route up the glacier, and then stopping for overnight camp after finding a suitable campsite where the glacier flattens, the camp surrounded by high mountain views within complete wilderness
Day 11: Climb over Tashi Labtsa Pass 5,755m descend to Tengpo 4,900 m at Khumbu –07 hrs.
Today will be a toughest adventure walks on crossing over a high pass of Tashi Labtsa one of the highlight of the journey.
An early morning start before dawn where walk and climb follows a path onto a glacier for an hour or more, and then reaching a spur which provides an easy access to our route towards upper glacier.
Here our guides will fix ropes, make steps and ledge to make it easy for porters, although terrain is not so difficult, a precaution is necessary around these types of mountain landscapes. After everything is set for the final climb, four hours climb along with mind-boggling scenery. After final preparation climb on top of the pass, our highest point of the trek at above 5,755 m / 18, 991 ft high, marked with Buddhist prayer flags and cairns.
After a tough and exciting climb then descend with care to reach the other side of Rolwaling towards Khumbu within Everest region.
Our route leads downhill for few hours towards Ngole and further near past glacial pond of Pachermuche-Tsho before Tengpo and then on gradual path to reach our overnight camp at 4,900 m high at Tengpo, where Yak herder make their summer pasture and grazing fields.
Day 12: Trek to Thame 3,800 m – 5 hrs.
After a long hard day, walk from here will be enjoyable most of the way to Namche and beyond to Lukla town. From the camp on Khumbu areas walk follows eastwards over snow slopes the trail is well marked and continues with long descent down to reach Thame Khola with excellent views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Makalu and Lumding Himal above the Thame Khola.
After an hour or more reaching dozen or so Sheppard’s huts that makes the place around Thengpo a wide pasture field.
Few hours of gradual walk downhill reaching at Thame Village and our first hint of trekker and human civilization since Beding village.
At Thame with time visit its old and interesting Monastery located upper end of the village, Thame situated on an Old Salt Trade and Caravan Route of Nepal and Tibet via a high Nangpa-la pass.
Day 13: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m -05 hrs.
Today a pleasant walk to Namche, an affluent rich Sherpa town and an important trading centre with a weekly Saturday market, fresh foodstuffs are brought up from lower villages to barter or for sale.
Walk leads east from Thame with short downhill to a bridge over Bhote Kosi River, from the bridge 20 minutes climb to reach a village with mani prayer walls and then walk into green alpine forest on a gentle winding path, after good four hours of pleasant walk reaching at famous Namche Bazaar for overnight stop before Lukla.
Day 14: Rest day at Namche to recover from tough walks and crossing high pass.
A free day in Namche Bazaar where one can relax and take a short hike around for excellent views of Mt. Everest-Ama Dablam-Thermasharkhu-Kongde with Pachermo peaks towards west.
Namche a large and famous village like a town, providing good facilities of banks-post office-cyber café, with many good restaurants and bakeries with shops, large stores where you can explore rich culture of Khumbu Sherpas.
Colorful and busy Saturday market is interesting to witness which is held every week.
Day 15: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
With pleasant stop at Namche Bazaar, today another long and interesting walk to Lukla following downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, and then with few short ups and downs to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit points to reach Monjo village.
After Monjo with short rest retrace the journey back to Lukla on gradual scenic route back to Lukla with memorable adventure around Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa treks, last day walk back takes you at Lukla.
Walk leads you on gradual winding trail past Phakding and Ghat village then with last uphill climb to Lukla for overnight stop, evening party and last night dinner around Khumbu and Everest area.
Day 16: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
From Lukla flight starts from early morning to Kathmandu in fine clear weather, sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal our guide and staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.
Day 17: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
In Kathmandu a spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for another sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.
Day 18: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high Rolwaling and Khumbu with successful crossing over Tashi-Labtsa pass, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
