A unique and ultimate adventure for you to experience in our wild and most isolated areas where only few trekkers and adventurer have explored this virgin region of Upper Mustang and Upper Manang.

A striking looking Saribung Peak at 6,328 meters and 20, 882 ft high, located around far and remote corners of Upper Mustang, where few mountaineers have ventured and climbed this remote peak Saribung.

So this will be your next adventure into hidden pockets of Himalaya where walk leads you around Upper Mustang after reaching at Jomsom town with scenic flight from Pokhara.

Jomsom administrative town of Mustang district located North Mid West Nepal Himalaya on an ancient Trans-Himalaya Salt / Caravan Route of Nepal to Tibet through Upper Mustang and beyond Karo-la pass.

From Jomsom heading into picturesque country within wide and large terrain with eroded high cliffs and canyon of red-brown and grey colors as the walk enters Chele-Tsusang and Tsarang villages encountering many prayer wheels and stone walls of great interest.

On walk explore its old monasteries of both ancient Bon and Buddhist religion and crossing few high passes with views of Dhaulagiri and Mustang Himal to enter into a walled former kingdom at Lo Manthang.

With time at Lo Manthang visiting its traditional and cultural villages and monasteries then heading towards absolute wilderness to reach our main destination within Damodar Himal area for the climb of Saribung Peak.

Walking into one of most remote and isolated areas of Himalayan away from human settlement and villages leading at holy Damodar kund (pond) facing breath taking views of surrounding peaks and then towards a high pass of Saribung for the climb.

Climb is undertaken with much preparation and rest days for acclimatization, where the peak grade is of PD + ‘Per Difficule’ as per French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification.

A straight forward climb with some technical effort and skill required reaching at the summit top, offering mind blowing panorama of mountains and landscapes, and then our adventure leads over Saribung-La pass to reach at Upper Manang areas in Phu village.

Phu one of the remote and isolated village of Upper Manang areas where we will have time to explore this hidden village away from the main trail of popular Annapurna Circuit trekking where our trek leads to Dharapani  village for the drive back to Kathmandu.

Our dramatic adventurous treks and Saribung Peak climb with traverse to Phu concludes on reaching at Kathmandu with memorable and outmost experience in the wildest corners of Himalaya.

Day 04:            Morning flight to Jomsom 2,715 m and trek to Kagbeni – 04 hrs.
Day 05:            Trek to Chele (Tsele) 3,050 m – 06 hrs.

Day 23:            Rest day at Phu Gaon and explore around isolated village and monasteries.

Please Note:
Our standard itinerary is just a guide line, this adventurous trek and climb of Saribung Peak and traverse over high pass to reach at Phu areas of Upper Manang valley, is more of an exploration than normal trekking adventure.

Where altitude and walking hours can differ, from Lo-Manthang adventure into least explored and traveled region of Upper Mustang, this will be an ultimate long trekking journey in the hidden pockets of Far Western Himalaya into pristine wilderness and untouched areas by trekkers and adventurer.

This will be a perfect trek and climb for interested adventurer seeking complete wilderness away from main flow of trekkers and human settlement for a week or more.

Day 01:            Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding Saribung Peak Climb and Traverse, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02:            In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Saribung Peak Climb.

A free day in Kathmandu for trek and climb preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, collect permits from concern Government department for the climb of Saribung Peak and traverse over a high pass.

On this day where one can take an optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 03:            Drive to Pokhara 950m – 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning overland journey on the main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone at Pokhara, drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.

Finally this exciting drive reaching at Pokhara, then transfer to respective hotels by the beautiful and serene Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.
(Options by Air 30 minutes scenic flight to Pokhara).

Day 04:            Morning Flight to Jomsom 2,700 and trek to Kagbeni – 04 hrs.

With pleasant overnight at Pokhara transfer to Pokhara airport for a short flight to Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district.

 

From Jomsom our first day walk begins towards Kali-Gandaki river valley within windswept terrain, afternoon can be windy around this desert like area.

After 4 hours of good walks along with views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Nilgiris reaching at Kagbeni village, the door to Upper Mustang around former forbidden Lo Manthang.

 

Day 05:            Trek to Chele (Tshele) 3,050m – 06 hrs.

Morning wall leads on uphill through a canyon and then following a river upstream with amazing landscapes views of red cliff wall in both directions, and then slowly reaching few farm villages and cultivated lands of Tiri-Gaon village, overlooking impressive natural landscapes erosion of red colored cliff canyon and then few hours of good walk reaches to our overnight stop at Chele or Tshele village, a moderate size settlement.

 

Day 06:            Trek to Geling 3,540 m – 05 hrs.

From Tsele, morning starts with to a climb towards Gyakar village, and from here trekking within arid and dry country and then reaching at Samar village, which is one of the pretty looking villages.

After Samar village with nice break here walking to a small place at Bhena from here walk leads to a steep climb to a ridge top called Yamda La at 3,860 meters pass this top offers striking views Mustang landscapes and of high mountains of Mt. Dhaulagiri range. After enjoying the scenery walking down-hill to overnight halt at Geling village via Syangboche village.

 

Day 07:            Trek to Tsarang (Charang) 3,560 m – 06 hrs.

Morning before starting the walk to Tsarang “Charang” time permitting option visit to its old Geling monastery and observe the Buddhist mani prayer wheels propelled with water power, after the visit carry on trekking towards Ghami village, and then leading to cross Ghaymi Khola (stream) walk leads following lengthy and impressive line of Mani walls (holy prayer stone) from here walking to Dhakmar village, and then few hours of good trekking brings to Tsarang village surrounded by large fields of crops like buck wheat’s for overnight stop and visit of Tsarang old monastery.

 

Day 08:            Trek to Lo-Manthang 3,700 m – 04 hrs.

Today a short day walk to one of our highlight of the trip at Lo Manthang, a classic walled large village, once a forbidden kingdom.

 

Starting morning walk on crossing a strong steel bridge, and then walk leads to Marang village, from this village uphill to reach a ridge top, encountering several chhorten and mani stones prayer walls in between Tsarang and Lo Manthang.

 

Walking with wonderful views of landscapes with Nilgiri’s, Tilicho and Bhrikuti peaks, walk gradual leads to ascend Lo La pass at 3,950 meters with first striking views of Lo Manthang walled village within a fortress, from here descend to the base of a pass then on pleasant trail towards Lo Manthang for two nights stops.

 

Day 09:            In Lo-Manthang for acclimatization and local hike.

Lo Manthang the kingdom of Lo or Upper Mustang, here with one more day to explore village and its old Tibetan style houses within walled fortress.

 

In Lo Manthang visit to historical and cultural centre which is the main attraction of Lo-Manthang, with four main monasteries Namgyal Gompa, Champa Lakhang (God House), Red Thubchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the great Entrance Hall.
Requesting permission to enter the king’s palace visit the interior of the old palace and meet the late king or Raja of Mustang family if possible.

 

Day 10:            Trek to Yara 3,550 m via Dhi / Dri – 06 hrs.

After an interesting and fascinating time around Lo-Manthang, morning walk on the same route for few hours and then heading eastward on an alternative to reach our ultimate destination over Saribung high pass and climb to reach at Phu areas.

 

Starting with a steep descend to a small village of Dhi by Phuyung Khola bank, crossing a small wooden bridge over Phuyung Khola, leading to a steep climb for few hours with views along the walk, and then ending the day at Yara, a small village with Buddhist player flags welcoming its visitors.

 

A nice interesting area to explore afternoon time with great views of snow capped peaks and surrounding picturesque landscapes.

 

Day 11:            Trek to Ghuma Thanti 4,856meter via 5,100 m pass – 07 hrs.

From today onwards with pack lunch and overnight camping, due to high strong wind and breeze around much exposed valley area where cooking is not possible. Walk leads past scattered Sheppard’s shelter and huts around summer pastures of Yaks and Tibetan ponies as the track heads up at Gangra at an altitude of 3,870 m, then walking on the ridges across towards old historical monastery of Lori Gompa perched high above on a cliff. This monastery includes fascinating paintings.

 

From Luri Gompa walking through pasture fields at 4,780m, the path crosses a wide verdant plateau with super vista of massive Dhaulagiri mountains, walk continues up to a pass at an elevation of 4,940m and heading down to Ghuma Thanti, a remote isolated spot, with huts and shelters for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visiting holy Damodar Kund (pond / lake).

Day 12:            Trek to Damodar Kunda via another un-named 5,600 m pass.

Today a long day walk of more than 8 hours leading to most holy spot at Damodar Kunda, morning starts after crossing a pass at above 5,600 m, trekking on wide open valley enclosed with high un-named peaks and finally reaching at Damodar Kund for overnight camping.

 

This high camping offers great views of Damodar Himal towards North and the Annapurna Himalaya on the south with more other adjoining peaks.

 

Day 13:            Rest day at Damodar Kunda for acclimatization and exploration.
At Damodar Kund with free day for acclimatization and local hike exploring the un explored areas as this region is seldom visited and ventured by other western trekkers and explorer, an amazing country with breathtaking scenery of surrounding landscaped in perfect harmony with nature and mountains.

 

Day 14:            Trek to Khumjungar Glacier 5,540m near Sano Bhirkuti Himal.
After a pleasant overnight stop in the holy areas of Damodar Kund (pond) and the mountain range that surrounds this amazing area with complete wilderness of mountains and rocky hills with glaciers. Walk leads towards east heading past Bhirkuti Himal base camp reaching at moraine of rocks and glacier to camp around Khumjungar glacier area.

 

Day 15:            Trek to Saribung Base Camp at Saribung-La pass 6,042 m-05 hrs.

Morning trek begins with a steep climb to reach Saribung base camp which is at 6,042 m on the Saribung-la pass itself, walk leads to a tough climb due to high altitude but with marvelous views of surrounding peaks and rocky hills, after few hours of hard climb on icy trail, finally reaching at the top of Saribung-la pass and base camp with time to explore the surroundings area.

 

Day 16:            Rest day for acclimatization day and explore the hidden areas.

Rest day for acclimatization and practice climbing with full preparation for the classic climb on top Saribung peak on least climbed peaks.

 

Here our guide will scout the area of climbing route for safe and successful climb, a perfect spot for rest and to hike in this unexplored area within pure wilderness of remote and isolated region of Mustang and Phu.

 

Day 17:            Rest day for acclimatization and preparation for the climb of Saribung Peak.
A necessary and important to have a day at base camp on this high altitude pass which serves as base camp for the climb, here with time to practice and preparation for next early morning climb to Saribung Peak summit.

Day 18:            Climb Saribung summit and return to base camp.
The climb on top 6,328 meters high Saribung summit which is a straight forward climb with few technical sections near to the top of the summit, the climb is mostly on rock and ice where our expert guide will fix necessary routes for the climb, making ledges on ice and snow for safe climb.

 

Reaching atop Saribung Peak enjoy the panorama of high snow capped peaks that surrounds you and then safely descend back to base camp.

 

Day 19:            Spare and Contingency day in case of unfavorable weather conditions.                      

We have allowed a spare day as contingency in case of bad and unfavorable weather conditions which might occur around the Himalaya region, the climate although fine on best season sometimes the Himalayan weather can be quite unpredictable.

 

If all goes fine can use this day on route Phu making walking day shorter to reach Dharapani at Manang area.

 

Day 20:            Traverse Saribung pass above 6,042 m to Phu areas at 5,550 m – 06 hrs.
Leaving base camp on top of Saribung-La pass, walk leads first following the icy trail up to descend through narrow gorge for few hours to reach the other side of the pass as the walk leads to some level ground, where sometimes in snow will be arduous job to find the right track, our guide will lead to reach the camp at about 5,550 m altitude also known as Phedi Camp.

 

Day 21:            Trek on route Phu and camp at 5,072 m at Layju Khola near Nagoru -05 hrs.

Morning walk on gradual path with some descend and short climb to reach near Pokarkang base camp and then walking on rocks and boulders of scree following Layju Khola to set our camp near a summer grazing area of Nagoru.

 

Day 22:            Trek to Phu Gaon 4,080 m /13,386 ft – 04 hrs.
Finally morning walk leads back into human settlement and villages, after being in complete isolation within high mountains; the walk is mostly downhill on the hidden path of Phu to Mustang area, where few explorer and adventurer have ventured this remote North Mid West of Nepal Himalaya.

Slowly after few hours of nice and pleasant walk brings at Phu Gaon for overnight stop.

 

Day 23:            Rest day at Phugaon for local visit of the village.

A rest day with free day to bring back the sore muscles of hard days trekking and visit the local villages of strong Tibetan influence, Phu village consists of about 30 houses, which are home to 100-150 people. Explore the vicinity of this village and lifestyle, traditions and cultures of local people.

 

Day 24:            Trek to Kyang 3,820 m – 05 hrs.
Morning another interesting walk downhill to reach a nice summer grazing at Kyang, after a lovely stop at Phu, walking downhill loosing heights every hour entering a gorge following Nar-Phu River downstream around the area chances of spotting some wild antelopes like Naur or Blue Sheep probably might see the elusive snow leopard, after good hours of walking downhill reaching a Yak grazing and a small settlement at Kyang for overnight stop.

Day 25:            Trek to Dharmashala 3,230 m – 05 hrs.

Morning walk gently descends through gorge, then cross the bridge over the stream and walk along the river bank. A few hours of walk finally brings to the small settlement of Dharmashala for the overnight stop.

 

Day 26:            Trek to Koto 2,670 m– 05 hours.

Leaving Dharmasala continues descend and trek to Koto with complete new experience of alpine vegetation along the trail. A few hours walk brings to Koto for the overnight stop where the Annapurna circuit trekking trail joins.

 

Day 27:            Trek to Dharapani 1,860 m – 05 hours.

Our last day walk of the great adventure leads to lush and green vegetation back into tree lines of pines, oaks and rhododendron forest on route to Dharapani, as the path leads on main trail through Timang village, Timang with great views of Mt. Manaslu 8,163 m / 26781ft and has 3 best hotels. This region is also rich in its age old culture, from Timang walk for few hours along the mule track into forest of fir, pine, oak and maple to reach Dharapani for the overnight stop.

 

Day 28:            Drive to Kathmandu via Bhisisar 830 m – 07 hrs journey.

After last breakfast of this great adventure take a vehicle for the drive to Kathmandu following the narrow dirt by the Marysangdi River downstream, after few hour drive passes villages and towns of Syange, Bulbule, Khude and Bhisisar, a large town and headquarter of Lamjung district, from here reaching at Dumre town, where Pokhara-Kathmandu highway joins from Dumre 04 hours of interesting drive brings you at Kathmandu, concluding this memorable adventure with Solu Khumbu Trek & Expeditions.

 

Day 29:            In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as spare and free day an opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

Day 30:            International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and grand experience around high hill and mountains of Upper Mustang with successful climb on top Saribung Peak, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
