Introduction:

Three High Passes of Everest, an overwhelming adventure in remote and isolated pockets of high scenic Khumbu within Everest region, a great journey crossing one of the highest passes of Himalaya with mind-blowing views truly an adventure of a lifetime experience.

Three High Passes of Everest leads to an adventurous walks traverse over Kongmo-la 5,535m,                                          with Tsho (Cho)-La 5,368 m and Renjo-la at 5,360 m and plus climb on top Kalapathar above 5,545 m the highest spot of the adventure offering super panorama of Everest-Lhotse and other high peaks with close views of Mt. Pumori and Everest.

An adventure on high Khumbu mountain range where walk leads over moraine-ice and glaciers to complete all three high passes with mind-blowing views of snow capped peaks on daily walks and in the comfort of nice and cozy lodges along our adventurous route.

On this adventure one should be in good physical and medical shape to cope high and extreme altitude with arctic cold temperatures, as this trek leads you to one of the highest places on this planet earth, where few adventurer and trekkers seldom join in this awesome journey.

Starting Three High Passes of Everest taking a short scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu, and then on scenic walks past nice farm villages of Sherpa the Highlanders of Everest, our route leads into enchanting lovely wooded areas of tall pines-firs-oaks and rhododendron trees.

On reaching at colorful and famous Namche Bazaar with rest day for acclimatization, here with time to explore interesting Sherpa culture and customs, which is similar to Tibetan traditional life of Buddhism religion.

From Namche heading past beautiful and scenic Thyangboche Monastery and then into arid and barren country as walk leads closer to high mountains to cross over Kongma-la to reach at Everest base camp.

After a fantastic crossing of high Kongma-la and visit of Everest base camp, soon our adventure leads to cross Tsho (Cho) -la pass to reach scenic and beautiful Gokyo Lake and its unique valley surrounded within high peaks with views of Cho-Oyu the 6th world highest peaks.

Gokyo am amazing spot with its emerald colored glacial lakes, with another rest to marvel the views and exploring its unique scenery areas and then heading to cross our last and final high pass of the adventure over Renjo-la pas to reach a tranquil village at Thame.

From Thame with easy good walks to Namche Bazaar and then to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu after a great and overwhelming adventure of a lifetime experience on Three High Passes of Everest.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:            Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:            In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for 3 high passes of Everest.
Day 03:            Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 04:            Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05:            Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 06:            Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 07:            Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05hrs.
Day 08:            Trek to Chhukung 4,730 m – 03 hrs.
Day 09:            Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m over Kongma-la 5,535m – 08 hrs.
Day 10:            Trek to Gorakshep 5,180 m, and walk to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11:            Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and continue trek to Dzongla 4,830 m – 05 hrs.
Day 12:            Traverse over Tsho (Cho) La to Thagnag / Dragnak 4,700 m – 07 hrs.
Day 13:            Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,950 m – 04 hrs.
Day 14:            Rest day with hike of 2 hrs to Gokyo Ri above 5,356 m.
Day 15:            Traverse over Renjo-la 5,360 m and descend to Lungdhen 4,380m – 07 hrs.
Day 16:            Trek to Thame 3,880 m – 06 hrs.
Day 17:            Trek to Namche Bazaar – 05 hrs.
Day 18:            Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
Day 19:            Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 20:            In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 21:            International departure for home ward bound.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, where you will be received with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other trekking members and staff.

Here our guide or group leader will brief you with information regarding traverse of Three High Passes of Everest, with welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese Restaurants includes Folk program of various parts of Nepal.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for 3 high passes trekking.

A free day in Kathmandu for preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments for the trek, on this leisure day an option to join in our sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities.

Where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites listed as World Heritage Sites.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,886m and walk to Phakding 2,640m – 04 hrs
Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for sweeping 30 minutes scenic flight in a smaller aircraft to Lukla with panorama of snow clad mountains with Everest in view during airborne.

On reaching at Lukla airport named Tenzing & Hillary Airport, after sorting out gear and getting refreshed start walk to Phakding for overnight stop, as the route leads towards many Sherpa farm villages with great views, and the slowly walk reaches you at Phakding village for first overnight in Khumbu region.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs.

Morning walk starts walking on the bank of Dudh Kosi River, crossing bridges to reach at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo village, after checking inside the Park walk leads to last village at Jorsalle.

From here walk leads to cross last high bridge and then with uphill walk for few hours heading towards Namche Bazaar, here with two nights in this prosperous large village as well the main centre and capital of Khumbu, where one can find facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful Saturday market.

Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

Namche an ideal place for acclimatization, on rest relax or take a short hike up to the park museum which houses great range of information from mountaineering, flora- fauna with Sherpa cultures and Buddhist religion.

From here enjoy grand panorama of high snow capped mountains with Mt. Everest and stunning peak Amadablam, other optional walk up to Everest View Hotel for another beautiful views of surrounding mountains.

Day 06: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
After a pleasant rest at Namche, morning walk on gradual winding trail into rhododendron woodland, with views of Amadablam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tharmarserku and Kwangde peaks.

Walk leads to a short descend to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga, after a refreshing stop climb for few hours into a cool serene forest to Thyangboche Monastery.

A scenic spot with grand views of Amadablam, Kangtenga, Tharmarserku, Kwangde and Mt. Everest, a holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here.

Mountaineers also take blessing from high lama or priest for successful climb and safe expedition.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads downhill through birch-rhododendron and pines forest, from here on nice and pleasant walks after crossing a bridge over Imja Khola and then a gentle climb to reach Pangboche village.

This is the last permanent village before Everest Base Camp, after Pangboche tree lines drops for short rhododendron and juniper bushes. The trail leads to exposed area with views of
Mt. Amadablam after crossing a last bridge leading to a climb to reach within beautiful and scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche for overnight stop.

Day 08: Trek to Chhukung 4,730 m – 03 hrs.
A short today which helps you with acclimatization walks to the east of Imjatse valley at Chhukung, a small settlement at above 4,730 m high with outstanding panorama of surrounding high peaks, which is on route to Island peak and other high passes.

Morning walk leads past Dingboche village on gradual uphill trail crossing few streams within large Yak summer pasture areas to reach at Chhukung, an optional hike to Chhukung Ri 5,546 m and 18,195 ft high with sweeping panorama of surrounding high peaks with close views of Island peak.

Day 09: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m over Kongma-la 5,535m – 08 hrs.
After a pleasant stop at Chhukung, real adventure begins on crossing our first high pass an early morning climb uphill for few hour leadings over icy path, from Chhukung and Bibre areas onward walking on rocky trail over Kongma-la beneath Kongma or Mehra peak.

After a break with refreshing rest traverse over Kongma-la pass above 5,535 m / 18,159 ft located between Mt. Nuptse wall, Mehara and Pokalde peaks, after a tough climb heading towards Khumbu glacier and moraine.

Trek leads over moraine and glaciers with short steep climb over terminal debris of Khumbu glacier to reach at Lobuche for overnight stop, in the comfort of nice lodge after great Big Day walk.

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5, 364 m – 06 hrs.

Our route today offers tremendous views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest.

After few hours of strenuous scenic walk reaching at Gorakshep as the walk leads over moraine and icy path.

Gorakshep a small place with few lodges on route Everest Base Camp, after a break continue walk to Everest Base Camp as the trail leads over ice and moraine and then reaching another highlight of the adventure at Everest Base Camp.

At Everest Base Camp enjoy views of notorious Khumbu Ice Falls and glacier with close views of Lhotse-Nuptse and Lo-La, after a marvelous moment head back to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and continue trek to Dzongla 4,830 m – 05 hrs.
Early morning optional hike up to Kalapathar top at 5,545 m high, the highest spot of the adventure with fantastic close views of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks, after an eye catching views downhill to Gorakshep.

Morning after a great climb on scenic view top of Kalapathar, and continue walk to reach at the base of our second pass Tsho-la (Cho-la) at Dzongla.

Walk leads downhill to Lobuche and then avoiding the main trail of Pheriche and Thugla heading west to an isolated spot in Dzongla for overnight stop.

Day 12: Traverse over Tsho (Cho) La to Thagnag / Dragnak 4,700 m – 07 hrs.
Our second High Pass of the adventure crossing over high Tsho-la pass, starting after early breakfast following a path leading to a steep up and then crossing over a glacier on the east side.

The pass at 5,367m high, quite challenging to cross in snow conditions, from the top views of Cholatse Glacier then descend carefully to Thanknak for overnight stop at 4,750m a small isolated spot with few small lodges.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,950 m – 04 hrs.

After a great climb over Tsho-la pass, morning walk leads to an easy trail to Gokyo trekking past beneath Ngozumba glacier. Slowly walk lead to Gokyo Lake after reaching first lake and second lake then towards third main lake known as Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake where our lodge situated on the bank of the lake at 4,790 meters.

Afternoon free to rest and marvel the views of world’s 6th highest Cho-Oyu which straddles the border with Nepal and Tibet at above 8,201 m high.

Day 14: Rest day with hike of 2 hrs to Gokyo Ri above 5,356 m.
Another rest and spare day as contingency as well to maintain the itinerary days and providing with opportunity for optional hike to Gokyo-Ri which offers tremendous views of four world highest peaks.

From the top view of Mt. Everest-Lhotse-Cho Oyu and Mt. Makalu towards east with arrays of peaks and striking sunrise views as well from this scenic view top.

Day 15: Traverse over Renjo-la 5,360 m and descend to Lungdhen 4,380m – 07 hrs.
Last big and tough day of the adventure to complete all our adventure over three passes with last Renjo-la, starting early morning with a climb at the end of Gokyo Lake, our route to the pass offers views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche, and then traverse over Renjo La pass at 5,465 m / 17,929 ft.

From the top breathtaking views of Mt. Cho-Oyu with surrounding giant peaks, after enjoying the views walk leads downhill to frozen ponds, and then a long descend to reach a small settlement at Lungdeng for overnight stop.

Lungdeng a small temporary settlement with few simple lodges to cater trekkers passing this route which is also on-route to Nangpa-la pass separating Nepal and Tibet.

Day 16: Trek to Thame 3,880 m – 06 hrs.

After feeling great on completing all three high passes of Khumbu and Everest, morning walk leads on gradual downhill to Marlung village, and then continue to a sleepy, quiet village at Thame located west of Namche Bazaar.

At Thame with time to visit its old and interesting monastery believed to be of more than 500 years old.

Day 17: Trek to Namche Bazaar – 05 hrs.
Walk continues tracing the route from Thame to Namche Bazaar, after crossing a bridge with short climb to reach a ridge, and then heading east again towards Thamo and to Namche Bazaar as walk leads back into tree lines with great views of Kwangde and Pachermo Peaks.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
Today a long day walk to Lukla and a last day of trekking of this great adventure after a wonderful stop at Namche, heading downhill to Monjo village and then walk leads over Dudh Kosi River and then following a River downstream with few short ups and downs to reach at Phakding village.

After a short rest our last walk leads you on the same scenic route back to Lukla with memorable adventure on Three High Passes of Everest, walk follows past Ghat village then last uphill climb to Lukla for overnight stop, evening party and last dinner at Khumbu area.

Day 19: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
From Lukla flight starts from early morning to Kathmandu in fine clear weather, sometimes flight time can delay due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal our guide and staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 20: In Kathmandu for optional sightseeing tour.
A day reserved as spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, after an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

Day 21: International departure for home ward bound.
After a great and great experience around high Khumbu on traverse of Three High Passes of Everest, depart from the hotel to the airport for final departure homeward bound or to respective destinations.
